    St. Louis Cards fans...

How do you think Mo is doing running this club? I personally think he is way too conservative, not making enough big deals to get big time players leaving us to continue to fall toward the bottom of the Nl Central. I mean without Pujols we would be awful. And I dont think our rotation is good enough to be playoff caliber, especially if Carp isnt in it. The only good thing i would say is that we have alot of great prospects coming up like rasmus and wallace, I hope they can make an impact for us pretty soon. ALso what are we going to do about our loaded outfield, we have like 8 guys battling for pt. So cards fans what do you think about next years club?

We need more pitching period. Relying on carp makes me nervous.

Ya i wish we hit the market a little harder. I guess we can still trade some of our many outfielders.

You mean the 2009 Central pennant winning Cardinals team? Oh, I think they'll be fine as long as the starting pitching stays healthy through the year. Tampa Bay and even to an extent the Phillies didn't make it to the Series by making big splash free agency hires. Developing the farm system is the key, and that's exactly what we've been doing. And I think it's developimng faster than expected and we're beginning to see the benefits of that now. Look out for Perez to be a monster in the bullpen this year.

Ya Perez is a beast, but he needs to get that slider down a little better before he can really shut guys down.

    Re: St. Louis Cards fans...

I'm a Cubs fan, so you probably don't want to hear from me. I was surprised when the Cards parted ways with Jocketty. I thought he was an excellent GM. He would make some head-scratcher moves in the off-season, but they seemed to work out more often than not. He seemed to make personnel moves that allowed LaRussa to do his thing.

Like you said, I think they're way too conservative right now. The new GM is running the club like it's a small market team without any ability to make the "big splash". I know it's not true, but the moves that are being made (or, more accurately, the moves that AREN'T being made) lead you to believe that they're content to wallow in mediocrity in a top heavy NL Central.

Barring injuries, I see the Cubs winning the division rather handily in 2009.

Who will make our starting outfield? I say
    RF Ludwick
    CF Ankiel
    LF Skip
    left out Duncan, mather,rasmus,barton.

I'm still expecting Mo to trade atleast one of these guys, im thinking it will be ankiel but i dont know.

    Re: St. Louis Cards fans...

Top heavy???? Even last year the division wasn't won out until September, hell it wasn't even a two team race then. The Cubs, Brewers, and CARDINALS were still in it correct? And that was with a bunch of no name rookies you guys think can't play. I got news, the Cubs haven't made the series in while. Like I said before, the Phillies, the Rockies before them all of the teams winning games in October have a excellent farm system and develop their talent. It;s been this way since the Yankees went senile in the 90's.

Ya, we arent a small market team. We have a 100,000 + payroll every year. I think its because we are trying to save money for when pujols' contract nears an end.

You don't trade Ankiel, he's our starting CF for the better part of the next decade. Ludwick plays right. Left field is started this season Dunc, then if he starts living up to the hype then it's Rasmus' position.

I really want to see Rasmus called up, i think he could be a 30 30 guy for us eventually. So are you assuming we get rid of skip, if we play duncan over him, or do you think he will be our 4th outfielder?

I think Walker, Encarnacion, and Mulder were the last 3 big pickups/trades, and we all know how those turned out. I keep telling myself that Pujols loves STL enough to not milk them for all their worth when his contract comes up.

And who picked them up? I liked Jocketty, but times were and still are changing. Tomorrow's stars are no name rookies now, and we've got a few to bank on.
