Best Song & Album of 2008

The Grammy thread on the betting board got me thinking, what's the best song and album of 2008? Never mind who will or should win the Grammys. What is your favorite from the past year?

Trent Willmon's Broken In, from Compadre Records. He is a great Texas country artist. I am a big country music fan, and in the past year or so, I have gotten into some indie country, some not big time Nashville stuff and I love it.

Is it just me or were there a lot of "meh" albums that came out this year?

Gag me. The answer here is Death Magnetic. I have no interest in Lil "I talk like a baby and you fools still pay $90 to see me perform" Wayne.

Meh, I'd argue that Murder by Death's "Red of Tooth and Claw" was better than Death Magnetic. I like both of them, but neither was "great" IMO.

Maybe neither were "great," but they were both actual music - something that can't be said about Lil Wayne.

And before you rap-fans-who-wear-your-flatbills-with-the-tags-on crowd tries to burn me at the stake, I know that he is popular. I also know that sharing needles during drug use is as well, but that doesn't make it okay.

My favorite albums of the year, and favorite songs from each...

Shinedown: The Sound of Madness: Devour, What A Shame, Breaking Inside, or Call Me (Songs)

Is Shinedown that annoying band with the song "Second Chance" or whatever it's called about Haley's Comet?

Disturbed's Indestructible was great! Inside the Fire I think may be there best song. Seeing them live this summer was great!
