Cool ESPN Rankings - Prestige of the I-State Football Program

Iowa State - 114th out of 119 teams
    Iowa - 30th

Counting down college football's most prestigious programs (21-119) - ESPN

Seriously, look at some of the teams that rank ahead of ISU on the list. Is it child abuse to raise my kids Cyclone fans? I need some help here explaining to my kids why they should be Cyclone fans. My 8-yr-old son claims he's a Hawkeye for life and he's working on his little sister to wear more black and gold. My son is asking to go to Iowa games next year instead of ISU games like we've been doing since he was in diapers. I don't have much of an argument against him to be honest......go to Ames, watch a team lose more often than not and go home sad or go to Iowa City, watch a team win more often than not and go home happy.

Please give me your man card. I will give it back when you learn how to raise a Cyclone family!!!

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

I guess if your kid wants to drive himself to Iowa City that's his choice, eh?

boo freaking hoo...apparently you have no loyalty or ties to Iowa State if you are considering this. What are you going to do when Iowa has a few bad years in a row? ...jump ship for first successful team you see?

He's not fairweather, he's a loser. Actually he's just playing us because he really isn't a clone fan.

I guess when you don't have a good argument you attack the messenger? Seems to work in politics so why not here I guess.

FYI........I spent 4 years at Iowa State, 2 years at Iowa and have been a season ticket holder to ISU football since 1999.

Maybe they should base their ranking on fan following and average attendance...that puts us higher than a hell of a lot of those teams.

Re: ESPN Rankings - Prestige of the I-State Football Program

We are only 2 spots behind University of Louisiana-Monroe.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

Uhhh, who else could I attack besides the messenger? Or did you want me to provide an argument on why you and your kids should be clone fans?? Or did you want me to attack your 8 yr old that apparently can outwit his adult father?

Re: ESPN Rankings - Prestige of the I-State Football Program

If you want an argument about why you shouldn't take your kid to Iowa City.

Tell him to look at all the thugs on the Iowa team this year . . .

Tell him that if he wants to have it easy and root for the team of thugs that happens to win in the easy big 10 conference than go ahead.

    Or . . .

He can be a Cyclone for life, and when things get good he can take all the credit for saying he was a Cyclone from the beginning.

Anybody can be a Hawkeye fan, that would be too easy, but it takes dedicated, loyal, and passionate fans to be Cyclones.

That's the best I can offer to you, I wouldn't trade being a Cyclone for anything else in the world and I grew up a Hawkeye fan.
