    CFB-ESPN Gameplan

IIRC this is only about $100 for the season(?)...looking for opinions on this from anyone who gets it.

I noticed that each weeks schedule from 08 has a few games that were shown regionally but overall it looked to show around 8-10 games a week(most weeks) you wouldnt normally get.

    Re: CFB-ESPN Gameplan

The BTN really has dilluted gameplan, IMO. The DTV transition might well make it worse as well.

The other thing to keep in mind is that most of the games are shown at the same time as other games that you might want to watch.

If you REALLY love college football, it's worth it. Just don't expect it to be great every week.

DVRs will be busy. based off the price(at least what i think it is) its not too much per week, and theres bound to be 1 or 2 teams featured that i have a vested interest in. Seems they picked up most of the non televised(fox networks/etc) B12 games as well.

    Re: CFB-ESPN Gameplan

If you want it for Iowa State, don't bother. Most of the games will be on FSN or Versus, and any ABC regional games are likely to be televised in Iowa.

If you want it for the Big 12, then maybe. It's good if there's a top-notch south game on opposite some grab-bag Big Ten game.

If you want it because it's all-day football, then definitely get it.

If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team.

    Re: CFB-ESPN Gameplan

When will they have a "big 12" network like they do for the big 10?

I wish you could purchase a package that showed all sports for a single college. Maybe in the future?

The TV deal in place with the fox sports networks, espn, and even "VS" did a pretty solid job of getting a seemingly good 60% of B12 football games on tv this year. Id assume you coulda watched 4 of the 6 B12 conference games per week.

Cant say i got to see much ATM/Baylor this year but most everyone else was on the tube a lot.

42 of the 48 league games were televised this year, up from 40/48 in 2007.

But not all were televised in Colorado. I only got to see a few ISU games and even then I had to go to a bar to see those.

It's been discussed no end, but it won't happen as long as the current deal is in place. The only schools with a vested interest in such a thing don't need it (Oklahoma and Texas schools).

They pick up essentially no FSN games.

They pick up only out of market ABC, and a couple of smaller network (sunshine network) games (that probably won't carry many games thanks to the new SEC ESPN deal).

2008 Archived College Football TV Schedule

The ESPN-GP games are marked there. The only ones you wouldn't be able to get with your standard cable package + sports pack (FSNs), would be the Raycom games, and the out of market ABC games that aren't reciprocally carried on ESPN.

Every single game that ISU was on TV for was available in Colorado via DirecTV.

There were more games available via DirecTV than there were via Mediacom for Iowans.

I live in Texas and saw all 11 games that were on without subscribing to Gameplan....all you need is DirecTV and the sports package ($12/month) and you'll get FCS, FSN, Versus, and of course ESPN and ABC. The only hitch to this is if you're in Virginia, you might get an ACC game on ABC instead of the B12 game. But we were only on ABC once this past year IIRC.

    11-10. Large margin.

The only televised game I couldn't get with Mediacom, in Iowa, was the UNLV game (on The Mtn).
