Alex Thompson may need to be put on Meds

OK, I am sure you all recall watching Alex Thompson (sp?) last year for the squaks... Well, do you remember how he played with a ton of anxiety, and was always hesitant, and never played with out seeming afraid??

I was just thinking, maybe the kid should see a head doctor, and try to get through his anxiety issues of playing collegiate basketball. I see a ton of potential, but he needs to calm down and get a grip in order to help us in future years.

Martin Rancik had a similar deal, but he never ended up living up to his hype. I am afraid if Thompsen doesn't get help, he too might be talented wasted.

Does anyone else know what I am talking about, or am I worrying for nothing?? I just think a psychiatrist and some anxiety meds could help this kid tremendously.

Methinks playing under a smart coach (McDermott) instead of one that seems to have upstairs issues himself (Alford) will help a ton.

Sometimes just a change of scenery can work wonders!

Ya... and he was only a freshman. I have hope for this kid, but if he does continue to play tentatively in future years, I think McD may want to bring in someone to help him.

Re: Alex Thompson may need to be put on Meds

Why is everyone so high on Thompson? I understand he was a stud in high school but so is every other bball player in NCAA. He hasn't done anything at all in college. His stats are far from even average. I hope he turns out to be something special but if he was even able to play right now he wouldn't get more time than any of our other big men.

Don't you people think that America is overly medicated? Yes, there are people that do need them, but that seems to be a quick fix to everything.

If he was able to play this year, Jiri would be the official waterboy. If you are from around Des Moines and attended any of the Capital City league games, you would know why people are high on him. He's a banger down low and he had Drake's Kieta quite frustrated during one of the games, something we haven't seen out of Hubalek at all this year. He is going to be a solid contributor next year IMO, probably as a strong forward position since next year we might finally have big men that play the big man spot, not try to be another guard shooting bricks. He was by far the best post player we had comparing him to Hubalek and Marsden.

I don't think it's really right to discuss one of our players in this manner, and I'm closing this thread.
