    Cool Golf Swing - One-plane vs. Two-plane

For those that know the difference between a one-plane golf swing and a two-plane golf swing, which one is better? The fundamentals for the two are completely different so it's best to pick one and stick with it.

I'm a one-planer and my kids are learning the one-plane as it's easier to learn and easier to repeat for consistentcy. The two greatest golfers of all time (Tiger and Jack) are two-planers, but I still think one-plane is the best for the masses.

I've been playing golf all my life but I've never heard the difference between to the two. Care to explain?

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?

I'm pretty sure I'm a one-planer. I was taught to treat my golf swing as if I were swinging at a softball, and just drop it down to the golf ball. I have a monster drive - I wish the rest of my game were that good, though...

I prefer the seven-plane method endorsed by Jim Furyk.

Cool Re: Golf Swing - One-plane vs. Two-plane

Basically, with the one-plane swing the golf club travels one the same plane on the way back as the way forward so it's more easily repeatable and less reliance on timing. the two-plane swing typically means the back swing is steeper and the forward swing is flatter so two different planes. They say you are basically born one way or another as far as your preference. i'm not sure if that's the case or if you just learn and certain way as a kid and are stuck with it????

My set up and take away is more like a one-planer but the end of my back swing is definitely a two-planer.

yeah, Jim Furyk's swing is definately proof that there isn't only one way to swing the golf club, ha

Cool Re: Golf Swing - One-plane vs. Two-plane

Freddy Couples has the most beautiful two-plane swing I've ever seen. Anthony Kim, Boo Weekley, Davis Love III are classic one-planers that are fun to watch and try to copy.......

    Re: Golf Swing - One-plane vs. Two-plane

I think the 1 plane swing is proper for about 99% of amatuer golfers. I don't think someone can truly master a 2 plane swing without fully understanding and mastering a 1 plane swing in my opinion.

Funny - I think most golf professionals would disagree with you (on the mastering the one-plane before learning the two-plane, not that 99% of amateurs should stick with the one plane)

Tiger Woods is NOT a two-planer.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

It all starts with the correct grip anyway, if you don't have that down, it doesn't matter, your mechanics will be screwed up no matter what plane you swing.

I blame the beer. At least in league anyway.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.
