    Mongolian BBQ in Ames?

A month or two ago I was driving down Duff by the Old Chicago and there was a sign saying that a new Mongolian BBQ would be opening soon. Does anyone know if that is open yet? I love me some good Mongolian BBQ (IMO Hu-Hot has started to go down hill).

Nope - I think that space is up for lease now. I don't think it's happening, but I don't know for sure.

    What's wrong with Hu-Hot?

They stunk for a while there when they went to powdered extract for their sauces, but I think they are just as good as they've ever been now.

    Re: Mongolian BBQ in Ames?

I love Hu-Hot and any other Mongolian BBQ place. Ames really needs one. The sign on Duff that says the place is opening soon is still there, but I'm pretty sure it would have opened by now since it's been up for so long. Bummer.

    Re: Mongolian BBQ in Ames?

That is too bad about the one in Ames. I had such high hopes of getting Mongolian BBQ on my way to a Cyclone game.

I can't explain the decline in the Hu-Hot. I have been there easily 25 times since it opened, but the last couple times the sauce or something hasn't been up to snuff. I don't know if it is the cooks watering it down too much when they cook it or if it is the sauces to begin with. I try to add more sauce and it doesn't do me much good.

That building is for lease; nothing will be opening in it anytime soon. As you drive by, the inside is all wide open; looks like nothing was ever started...and Hu Hot is great!

Nothing's wrong with Hu-Hot - it's delicious. It's just 45 minutes and a bunch of traffic away for those of us here in Ames.

I noticed the same thing about the inside being wide open - no walls, nothing. Looks like it's waiting to be built to suit whatever business goes in there.

Perhaps it is going to be a Mongolian BBQ / Yoga studio.

There's got to be a joke about the "downward facing dog" somewhere in there...

If you can wrap that up with, "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw," I tip my hat to you.

A priest, a rabbi and a downward facing dog all walk into a Mongolian BBQ / Yoga studio. The priest orders Mu Shu Pork, the rabbi practices his Four Limbed Staff pose and the downward facing dog heads to the bar. A couple of hours pass and the priest and rabbi decide it is time to leave, but can't find their buddy the downward facing dog. After searching, they find him passed out in the corner by the bar. After waking him up they ask what happened. In slurred speech the downward facing dog says, "I remember tipping back a few beers, a glass of wine and a martini." Looking down at the shot glass the dog continues, "But what I want to know, is who is the man who shot my paw."

Best I could do on short notice.

Holy crap, that had everything. Build-up, Chinese food, a climax, a yoga position, and d'enouement. Reminds me of our thread a few months ago with Ocho Cinco puns.

I don't really have a hat to tip, so this is all I could do. I think you will find it satisfactory:

Yes, but I felt the overall message was a little preachy. Also, I found the metaphor of the talking dog to be quite unbelievable and stretching the suspension of belief of the reader a bit too far.
