12 points from 5 playing the PF/ post position. KSU outshoots ISU at the FT line 27-14 (KSU made more FTs than ISU shot). That doesn't bode well for the rest of the Big 12 play...

I don't struggle with that as much as I struggle with Lacey shooting 34% from the field along with 27% from the 3 point line.

She does seem to really be struggling to find her shot this year, and that does not bode well, because we are not good enough in the post to have our shooters struggle.

I wonder if Aus' hip is still bothering her and throwing off her shot?

could be, and it was definitely bothering her during non-conference, meaning she wasn't really able to use those games to get into a good rhythm for conference play.

The inability to score in the post is going to start taking its toll on the outside shooting. If the defense doesn't have to worry about inside scoring and having to drop down to help out, they are going to start pressing hard on the perimeter and contest the all the outside shots.

It doesn't seem to me that a team can be successful in the Big 12 without at least some semblance of a post game...

dropped out of the AP Poll today. 27th in voting. Even though we were 'supposed to' lose to the two ranked teams we played this week, nobody else at the bottom of the poll really faultered. Big Iowa loss still keeping us out of a solid spot in the poll. Which is ok. Plenty of conference games yet to go!

Re: WBB loses @ KSU 59-52

The sisters are in a good spot right now schedule wise now. I was hoping that they would get 1 of 2 from KSU or Baylor. Now the only game that they SHOULD lose is at Oklahoma. We have texas, texas A&M and kansas state still on the scheduler but they are ALL home games. Outside of Oklahoma, the toughest road game we have left is at Texas Tech and that should be winnable by the sisters!! 12-4 is my guess on Big 12 record at the end of the year. Loss to Oklahoma and either 1-2 more losses that we shouldn't have but will probably get because of poor post play.

Well, that's what you get when your "best" post player doesn't like playing like a post player.

I think having our two stars, Lacey and Ezell, going a combined 8-26 from the field, 2-9 from 3 pt. land, and letting Lehning from K-State drive right past them for 18 in the second half might have something to do with it too.

yea true, it just bugs me every time I see Wieben lining up to shoot a three. There are other players on the team who are there to do that, go do YOUR job.

I strongly disagree. Wieben has shown throughout her career that she can hit threes at a reasonable percentage. Her career percentage is 36% (20/55) and she's 3/8 this season. It forces opposing defenses to not sag off on her and giving the wings more of an opening to drive.

I'm on board with mred. Her stepping back to take a trey would be MORE effective if she was scoring a little more in the post, but i have NO problem with her going 1-2, 0-1, for a game. Especially if it's under 10 on the shot clock, or if she's absolutely wide open. Obviously there would be game situations in which we wouldn't want this, but those would be obvious. Craig brackins is the same way. "Unfortunately" he went off against baylor last year, and that got stuck in his head and he never recovered.

I don't think it's an issue of ending up lopsided on offense either, because we know that Amanda and Kelsey can hold their own inside if need be.

However, MNCyGuy, I totally agree that this shouldn't be a thought in her mind until the opportunity presents itself. If you have a versatile post like weiben or brackins, they should still be doing all they can to be an inside player, opposed to looking for opportunities to pop out. However, if they find themselves at the top of the key and feel it, pop it.
