    History with blowouts.

Losses by 18 or more points.

    1998-99 3
    1999-00 0
    2000-01 0
    2001-02 4
    2002-03 4
    2003-04 3
    2004-05 3
    2005-06 2
    2006-07 6
    2007-08 4

    This season 1 so far.

Today was bad. Really bad. But to come to huge conclusions about this program from this loss is a bit misleading. I know that 18 point plus losses dont tell the whole story either.

Maybe, but in the same period I believe we have only lost by 30 points or more five times and three were under Coach Mac's watch. Today's loss shouldn't be the end all be all in judging the program but it should not be ignored either. 46 points is the third lowest opponent point total in Mizzou Arena this year and we are not in great company (Stetson - 44 and Arkansas Pine Bluff - 41).

I didn't think 06-07 was that bad. That was my favorite year of the McDermott era. Those guys weren't very good but they were fun to watch.

When his system fails on the court, things can really go south against pell mell style. He has littl chance of matching point production. We had allmost no shots and DG cannot make layups aqdequately by changing his release point every time. He needs to let himself be fouled.

    Re: History with blowouts.

A couple observations; first we have most of our Big 12 season yet to play so it isn't a fair comparison with prior years; secondly I'm not sure why you chose 18 points as a blowout but Iowa nearly beat us by that point spread this year with a marginal team.

We ran into a hot team today. They couldn't miss in the second half. If a team is dropping them from 23 feet out, you are going to have trouble staying in the game.

Agree..........We can get hot against that team at Hilton and beat them by 10-15. They are not that much better than us. They could have beat anyone in the BIg 12 today playing the way they did.

or you can guard them and not give them easy looks at a three.

    Re: History with blowouts.

Or, you can go with a scouting report that says don't let Mizzou take you off the dribble with their athletes, clog up the lane, and let them take 3's, which they don't shoot particularly well. Double edged sword, they just happened to be really hot today and would have beaten most anybody in the nation.

Well, they have the 4th most threes in the conference and if we are considered a good shooting team from three then they would too as we shoot 37% to their 36.5%

That extra half a percent makes a world of difference.

    Re: History with blowouts.

I don't care who we lose to as long as we win the games we have a chance to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that In the Mcdermott era we have fought hard with teams we weren't suppossed to beat. And struggled against teams we were. I would much rather have us lose by 40 to Kansas and beat Colorado than lose by 10 to Kansas and then disappoint against Colorado. I'm sorry if what I said makes absolutely no sense.

31 points is a big, big margin. I've been on the verge of posting something about this loss all afternoon, but I think I'm just going to zip it. Let's just hope for some better efforts the rest of the year.

Probably a good idea. This one's terribly frustrating, but over.

You are very accurate with that scouting report if you are talking about this team away from Mizzou Arena. When we come to Hilton, if you stick to that scouting report, you will win. This team has yet to learn to shoot outside of home. Plus, they haven't learned that they don't shoot very well outside of home.
