    Strength and Conditioning Coach...

    My Bad, please disregard.

Not sure if this name has been discussed, just wondering if anyone has heard anything about PR being interested in Tom Myslinski being our Strength and Conditioning Coach. I've heard he was offered the position (no source or link so don't crucify me) pending other NFL squads who have interest. PR and Myslinski worked at Pitt at the same time. Thoughts?

    Coaching Background:

1996 University of North Florida, volunteer head strength and conditioning coach 1998-2001 University of Pittsburgh, volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach 2002-03 Cleveland Browns, part-time assistant strength and conditioning coach 2004 Cleveland Browns, assistant strength and conditioning coach 2005-06 Robert Morris University, head strength and conditioning coach 2007 University of Pittsburgh, assistant strength and conditioning coach 2007-08 Cleveland Browns, head strength and conditioning coach

Rumor is he's been offered and he is awaiting any "better" gigs with other NFL teams. I'd say the majority of us are excited to get him.

I asked this on another thread but is an NFL S&C job really better than a college one? I'm sure it is much less work as most of the guys have their own personal guys they work with for most of the year but do they still get paid more than college guys?

    Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach...

Just did a quick search for NFL strength coach salaries. I couldn't log in to the site because it requires membership, but came up with this little clip: "NFL Head Strength Coach – Between $90000 and $185000 + benefits. Note that salaries vary dependent upon years of practice, education level, ..."

I found Shep's salary here: DesMoinesRegister.com | State Salaries | The Des Moines Register

Looks like he made $110,000 in '08, so not a whole lot of difference.

    Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach...

Here is an off the wall suggestion, probably in more of an assistant S&C role, but how about Demathdian Tate. He currently works at Aspen and designed their Elite Athletic Preformance program. Played football and baseball in college and worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers Strength and Conditioning for 6 years and his brother wrestled at ISU.

Not excited if he is contemplating something else. Get someone that would be excited to be at ISU

Maybe this is commonplace is sports. Otherwise, yes we need guys who will stay around a while. Don't wanna get Chiz'd or Price'd again!

    Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach...

If this is true, at least this is a MAN that is waiting to accept the ISU offer if other better offers come along.

He is not some pretender (I'd rather use a different word starting with a 'p' and is used sometimes when referring to....cats) who takes a lot of people along for a ride.

    Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach...

In retrospect, PR needed to make a strength coach his first hire. The players are now two weeks behind from a physical development standpoint. You have such a limited time to work with these players until Spring Ball starts. Hope he can land someone this weekend.
