    Dan Patrick

A caller on his show today was talking about Big 12 QB's. They talked about how they are all over-rated. He said there are only 3 in the NFL and all bench warmers. If this is true, that makes ISU look really good. The 3 I thought of were Sage, Seneca, and Vince Young. Go Cyclones!

"Justifying" that the current Big 12 QBs are overrated by stating the only current Big 12 QBs in the NFL are bench warmers is rather foolish.

But I keep hearing it as the reason why these guys won't succeed.

Chris Simms is on a roster somewhere isn't he?

That is pretty remarkable if it's true. I guess Chris Simms isn't around anymore. Sage and Seneca haven't exactly been benchwarmers the last couple of seasons though.

People don't realize that it might be because the Big XII used to be a predominantly rushing league, and is in the process of shifting flavors?

Heck, even Troy Aikman didn't last at OU.

What about Big 10 QB's? Other than Kerry Collins, how many do they have?

i don't agree with this either because the current Big 12 QBs in the NFL are from the previous era in the conference when most schools were running "run first" offenses. I think it is safe to say the Big 12 conference has transitioned from that a bit and can now produce a great NFL QB.

Depends on how you define that. They were not playing because of their performance in practice - but instead the guy ahead of them went down.

Simms played for Tennessee in Week 17 @ Indy. 1-2 for 7 yards. Woohoo. Hadn't played in a game since '06 prior to that.

In all honesty, hardly anybody knows or cares about Sage and Seneca and their ISU ties other than ISU people.

Yeah, well, if you remember the shot that Simms took in '06 that pretty much darn well ended his career...
