    Basketball recruiting in Wisconsin-updates

2010-We are hard after Kelm, who has been really close to committing for a long time, but is holding off to make sure it is the right decision
We are also showing interest in Josh Gasser, a really high scoring 2010 guard, but right now he's a back-up option.
Chim Kadima scored 39 points against Nicolet.
2011- Darnell Harris- We're recruiting him as a 3. He's long, athletic, a good shooter, has a post-up game, and according to coach Tom Diener "The best passer I have ever coached." Tom Diener is a coaching legend in the state of Wisconsin and for him to say this is high praise. I think we get an offer on the table for him pretty soon, and since he wants to commit early, I think he has a good shot at being our next commit. He was considered a border-line academic risk, but is really startign to step it up in the classroom.
FWIW, on the Wisconsin board from someone who talked to him
Scout.com: Darnell Harris, SF Class of 2011
And this: from TroyD, who really knows his stuff
    t=3751405
Well, from what I know he is 6'7...very athletic and long.....Great rebounder.....Very good shot blocker.....has a great shot and has great form on his shot....Very good awareness on both sides.......Weakness are that he is kind of clumsy due to being so tall at such a young age(pretty common thing with people in general his size) and his ballhandling is still very uneveloped
Paul Jesperson, a 6'7" 2/3 is also receiving ISU interest, and eventually would like to visit ISU on an unofficial.
2012-Junior Lomomba-Really talented wing prospect, has interest from schools such as Duke, Tennesse, and USC. Rumored to be going to Oak Hill next year. Would be a huge get. Downside is he lives with the Maymon's (as in Jeronne and his crazy father.) Has had a tough life, but is really talented.
    WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL
Otis Pirtle-A 6'4" wing with the potential to get much taller who is extremely talented, I wouldn't be suprised to see us go after him really hard.
Jean-Pierre Tokot- Another exceptionally talented player, Tkoto plays the 4, and rumor is Wisconsin will offer soon. He's really good.

I think Kelm and Gasser have both been offered by Wisconsin haven't they? I think Iowa and Marquette may also be in the chase for Kelm.

Wisconsin is out of scholarships, and has no offers out for '10. Kelm received a 5 to play 4 offer from Wisconsin (Pay your own way for first year, then get scholarship second. ) Right now, we're way out in front for Kelm, and Iowa has kind of stopped recruiting him very much since they got a commitment from Cody Larson
Gasser will probably get Iowa and Indiana offers soon, from what I've heard.

Kelm would be alright to get. I think Harris would be a great committ. Our 2010,2011,2012 classes could be the best 3 years of classes ever at Iowa State. Then again with our luck it could be the worst.

Also, Kelm has really added some muscle, he isn't as much of a bean-pole like he used to be.

Sounds like grades will be an issue with Harris.

If we can get Troy and Darrin Davis through school. Harris will be on the Deans list. Also we need to take chances with kids like Harris. Sometimes they don't work, sometimes you get Jamall Tinsley.

Cyismydog - You are the man. I love all the updates you get and the nice info you provide.

How do you get your info?

I am shocked no one has every approached you to do this for one of the premium sites.

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

Any truth to what the UW fans are saying about if they offer, Harris will commit to them?

I wish we could land a couple more big time recruits. I'd feel great about our future.

    Re: Basketball recruiting in Wisconsin-updates

Not really a huge surprise that we would be in the lead for Kelm as we are currently competing against Creighton for his services.

Still say that he has a conditional offer. I think it is painfully obvious that he does.

He's been verrrry accurate with his assessment on who we're recruiting, and who we're going against for that particular player, and is getting his information from a solid source...his track record speaks for itself and he has repeatedely said Kelm's offer is not conditional. I'd say he's stating that as more than just a guess...so I don't quite understand how it can be "painfully obvious" that Kelm's offer is conditional to you?...but then again, I don't understand a lot of the baseless things that are said on here...

    Re: Basketball recruiting in Wisconsin-updates

I see no reaseon to keep the offer hanging to Kelm if Ejim wants to commit. We are the best offer he has had for months, he is obviously just waiting for something better, if it ever comes...
