Question Iowa Kids - Low Profile Recruits / Walk-Ons

I live in Iowa City and attend the majority of City High games. The Little Hawks have a 6'7" power forward named Malcolm Moore, who was a key piece of last season's championship puzzle. He was ineligible for the first semester but has played well since returning (30+ points Friday night versus CR Wash). He's got nice footwork around the basket and rebounds well. His rivals profile shows "medium interest" from Iowa, Drake, Creighton and one other, but lists no offers.

Anybody know why there's limited interest in this young man and if ISU has any at all?

Note: He has a younger brother who's on varsity as a freshman, at 6'4 and growing. The younger Moore (Jarel) is a shooting guard and very athletic; I could see him growing into a very versatile "3".

Moore is a problem waiting to happen. I don't think he has the grades, size, or skill to play at ISU, and he also was going to get kicked out of the CR school, so he transferred to City High. IMO, he goes Juco, ends up low d1.

I've heard grumblings about his attitude and work ethic. Seems like a high risk, low reward recruit to me.

I think there already is someone walking on that is that type of player and fits your thread title.

The grades are obviously an issue but I've never heard anything negative about him from a "disciplinary" standpoint and I know several members of the varsity coaching staff. I agree he's probably headed the JUCO route unless Lickliter finds a spot for him alongside Gatens & Little Licky...

As both he and his brother play for Martin Bros, I thought possibly somebody had seen him play summer AAU ball and could comment on how he performed versus other D1 talent.

Just what I've heard: he's not very good in AAU. If he was, Hank Huddleson would have contacted us.

There's a thread here somewhere. Kid from Johnston, or Urbandale?

Cool. I trust McD's eye when it comes to talent because he really hasn't be "dead wrong" yet on a guy he actually had time to look at (there was probably a few stinkers in the first class). I am too lazy to find the old thread so I will ask the one question that is important to me: what position does he play (or what is his weight/height) if anyone knows?

You sure he's not talking about the Dorr kid from Norwalk? He was unconscious the night I saw him play this year and word is he's walking on at ISU...

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

He is walking on here. It was announced in the fall I believe. How is he doing this year?

Tyler Lange at Urbandale has an offer to walk on, but I am not even sure he going to go to ISU. He may go elsewhere for academic reasons.

Urbandale, Johnston, Norwalk, they're all the same, right?

    Anyway, that's the one.
