Home Snow Removal: The Snow Plow

    Check out the image below

    http://www.cleaningsolutions4u.com/media/505491.jpg

Now, cut that device in half, and you have the snow plow. I picked mine up at Ace Hardware in WDM (EP True and 50th) last month.

For most of the snows we get in Iowa, save that ice snow in December, this thing has made short work of my driveway. I let a buddy borrow mine today, and he was blown away.

I went out this am and took the two inches off our drive (two car wide drive, plus a half of a two car drive inlet to the third garage stall) in 15 minutes. You literally just walk behind and plow the snow straight ahead. Like mowing your yard. hardly any bending and shoveling...straight plowing.

I used it Friday night late on about 4 inches, and it worked real good...I did finally buy a snowblower this weekend, for some of the bigger snows.

But this shovel has been awesome, and I will continue to use it.

Looks like something I can hack together on my own, but a very novel idea.

Those work great as long as the snow doesn't get too heavy or deep.

Walking on water is easy. Just do it in December when it's frozen.

True...I think about four or five inches of nice light snow, you are golden. Late Feb and March snows that might have more moisture and weight to them, they will work, but you might have trouble getting all the way across your drive.

I'd actually take the shovel thing for my driveway over that, unless it's more than a foot or two of snow.

Re: Home Snow Removal: The Snow Plow

I suppose I am a little surprised at this thread, but maybe that's because I'm from Minnesota and shoveling snow is a way of life up here. Shovels like this have been around forever...I remeber my Dad making shovel our huge driveway when I was about 10 (about 20 years ago) and I used a shovel like this!

Here's the key: If you ever spend anytime scooping snow.....you're an idiot! Get a decent snow shovel and just push the snow to the edge of the sidewalk/driveway, etc. The only time you should ever lift snow in the air is to get it over the drifts that may already line the edge of your walk/driveway!

Here's what I use. 84" wide, throws the snow a good 75'+ depending on the wind and how fast the tractor is running.

I want to get one of these so I can get that nice icey glaze to remind me of the Iowa State sidewalks...

Don't worry, they took the Zamboni over the sidewalks in front of the library

Oh, and people protesting outside the library, all I did was laugh at you.
