    Relevant WBB scores from 1/11

    Iowa 74, Minnesota 57
    Vandy 74, Tennessee 58 (!)

I don't generally actively root against Iowa WBB, but I am selfishly doing so this year because I want ISU to play in the NCAA Tournament in Iowa City, and that won't happen if Iowa makes the tournament.

Iowa is now 9-7 (2-3 in conference) but they've played a tough schedule and have two easy conference games coming up before things get harder again.

Vandy had some tough opponents this week, and managed to knock off both of them, winning @ Alabama and at home against Tennessee. Tennessee is young and playing very inconsistently this season.

I'm with you on this one all the way. Their non-conf losses haven't been horrible, and they have some good wins. Including a dominating win over us. However, we need the hawks to fold big time in conf play to not make the tourney - bottom half of the conference probably. A .500 record in conference would put them at 16-13, which could possibly be enough to put them on the bubble, depending on how well the big ten as a whole, as well as individual big ten teams do.

I think Iowa will probably be a bubble team. They have a tough schedule ahead. The Big 10 is weird this year with a lot of teams that can be really good, but a lot of them are inconsistent. A lot of new changes in the Big 10 also, with traditional lower level teams Northwestern, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois emerging.

I know that the uofi is hosting an NCAA WBB tourney site, but I truly thought the games were going to be played at Wells Fargo in Des Moines. I didn't think that made much sense when I heard it, but that's what I remember. Help me out here, please.

That's what happened last year when ISU hosted, so that's probably what you're thinking of.

For a few years, they experimented with eight 8-team subregionals rather than sixteen 4-team subregionals, so Ames was too small to host (I'm guessing Hilton was big enough but there weren't enough nearby hotel rooms). Last season was the last year for that: they are back to the 4-team subregionals, so Ames can host again. This season U of Iowa is hosting at Carver-Hawkeye. Next season, ISU is hosting at Hilton.
