Don Dunn will be part of

our staff. I know this based on nothing but scouring newspaper articles and auburn fan boards. He was asked about interest in ISU and he said he loved working with PR. The next day he was asked if he'd been contacted about the vacancy and he said "no comment". That on top of Auburn posters saying as recently as middle of last week that Dunn was ISU-bound makes me leap to the conclusion he will be on staff - maybe as DC.

Mark my words - I'm an anonymous chatboard poster living in Spokane - Don Dunn will be one of our defensive coaches.

Re: Don Dunn will be part of

I hope so, but I'm not so sure. The report that a message board poster on CR gave that Dunn had said "no comment" the day after mentioning his interest in the job was incorrect. The "no comment" was from a post on CSR about two weeks before a post saying he hadn't been contacted.

As for the Auburn posts, they could have a source, or their source could be a message board. It's very possible that they went to the ISU scout site, saw the name Don Dunn mentioned, and just concluded he was headed to ISU. It happens more than you would think.

If it was going to be Don Dunn, why would it not be announced yet? It's not like PR would need to extensively interview him like someone he wasn't as familiar with.

I think it will probably come out who the new DC is at the basketball game this Wednesday. Until then, I really don't see us having enough cyclones in one place for that kind of announcement.

what is with everyone obsession with having assistant coaches announced at bball games?

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Maybe we do not have a DC yet. Getting pretty late unless he is in the pros and the last few teams. No reason not to announce sooner. Perhaps monetary negotiations are going back and forth. Can we pay enough?

I just think it is better to make the announcement in person, to a large group of fans. A basketball game is where you find that around this time of year.

And that is what worries me. Especially with the email Geoffrey sent out about the 7.165 million dollar midyear budget reduction. I wonder what kind of effect that will have on the athletics department other than the already announced working one week without pay?

Announcing a defensive coordinator at a basketball game would be weird. Most people in the stands will have no idea who it is.

Re: Don Dunn will be part of

Obvious question at this point: What further role does Bliel play other than Assistant Head Coach. Is he a swing position? How much does he receive and does this affect the pay for the DC?

The fans at Auburn seem to think very highly of Dunn. I thought he was a RB coach there though? Could be wrong.

Head coach - probably so. Coordinators or assistants - probably not. It would be more appropriate to introduce assistants directly to the team first. Most teams, I assume including ISU, start off-season workouts together tomorrow. It wouldn't surprise me to see the team be the first to know about some of the hires.

The other issue is the football coaches convention started today and runs through Wed. I'm not sure of what the plans are for any of the new staff to attend, but some might be there for some of the sessions.

Pretty sure Dunn coached DTs at Auburn.

    It's not Dunn.

I think their budget is seperate from the general fund. The athletic dept has to raise their own money. The Football coaches meet this week so I doubt there we will know anything until that is over.
