A silver lining out of the duals

Even though the team let its chance get away, Varner should get back his #1 ranking. He pinned the guy that beat Herbst, then beat #1 Brester 10-3.

Varner is awesome. He is very consistant with only 1 or 2 matches in the last 3 years where he lost and he shouldn't have. I just hope he ends up getting a NC this year after coming so close 2 years in a row.

What was up with Cyler this weekend? He went 1-3, with two of those losses coming via major decision. His lone win was in sudden victory. Anyone know if he was wrestling hurt or sick?

    Some other bright spots:

Clark wrestled well by going 3-1 with a few bonus point wins. His only loss was to two-time all-american Troy Nickerson.

Reader was 2-2 but gave ISU important bonus points in his wins. His first loss was controversial and his opponent was ranked #1. The loss to the Husker kid (#7) was disappointing but probably will be avenged down the road when it really counts.

Sorenson is the backup to Duke Burk. He beat his second ranked opponent of the year this weekend and held his own against his #2 ranked foe. Its nice to know that we have quality backups (also Jensen, Carr and Curran) to spot our starters.

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy it.

I was impressed with Sorenson this weekend as well.

I read where it was a horrible week end because we didnt win it all. Evidently you two didnt get the memo and have to come in here with facts about are wrestlers overacheiving and beating better wrestlers. Plus didn't we finish 3rd? I know we had some problems but after last year's debacle this was some much better results.

I got that memo, I just threw it away. I was nervous about how we'd match up against Boise St and Cornell when I found out we'd be facing them. Wasn't Cornell the team that beat us last year as well?

I dont know if it was Cornell or not? It doesnt seem like it was but I could be wrong. We didnt match up well with them and missing Burke and a couple of close loses we werent that far from the win. The pins were the ones that hurt and you wont see that when we are at full strength.
