    Bench Players

We may have more bodies than we have had in the recent past, but we still lack good depth. We only had 5 points of the bench tonight. Most of our guys that come in off the bench are just not scoring options

We have young depth. I don't think Mac wanted to throw them in down at Texas for their first time out.

Bench players to get the most minutes. Thompson, JVB, and Haluska. Not really young depth

The only other one that has truly gotten significant minutes this year is Eik and he is struggling

I agree. Buckley is not seasoned enough yet to come in without getting frazzled and turning it over, especially against Texas' good ball pressure. Eik is in the midst of a major slump, and to preserve any shred of confidence he has, it was best to sit him for most of the game.

What's great is that Hamilton didn't seem fazed at all as a freshman in his first conference game, and although he was outmatched on the defensive end at times, he didn't back down. He's only going to get stronger.

That's true, but the guys who I think are the future of our bench are Eik and Buck...see my above post.

My point that I was really trying to make is that THIS SEASON we are no more deep that we have been in the last 5 years scoring wise. We have more bodies though

That very well might be true, but the future of the bench may arrive later this year. I think Buck and Eik will get more minutes in subsequent conference games. Texas on the road wasn't a good one to get them in much.

And for this season, you'd be dead-on. I think we knew it would be that way with so many newcomers.

Nebraska, though, might be a good one for them. With all the guards NE plays, it might be handy. At the same time, playing three guards and two power guys might be impossible for NE to match up with.

The gaurds on our bench didnt match up with Texas very well, they are just do big at the spot. Our bench guards will be well rested when we play NE. Look for CG and Ham to have bigs games vs NE.
