    A walkon, foreigner, and 'project'

were the best players today . Petey had a couple of nice 3's and great defense. Lucca looked a lot like he used to. Handling the ball, some penetration, awesome pinpoint passes. Hamilton i think will be be the key to the team in future. That was a man sized dunk, just flattened that boy. Funny how most said that none of them were even worthy to be on the same court as the Texas's of the world.

The announcers called Lucca a german and deutschland and that he shot it deep from downtown Bonn.

I've liked Big Ham all year, and I think he will wind up as one of the better big men we've seen at ISU

And I think Lucca is still hurt. The whole game against Houston Baptist he kept grabbing his leg and trying to stretch it out.

I never said that. Pete has all the respect in the world from me and obviously Lucca is loved by everyone. Full health he would start for nearly every team in the country.

Lucca is starting to find his groove. I have a feeling he's going to really come on the second half of the season. Big Ham is also starting to figure out that he belongs. Both are very good signs for the future. I'm afraid we're going to miss Peterson more than many folks realize, but hopefully Colvin and others can fill the void.

We really miss an athletic '3'. Wesley really has left us without fire power by taking a walk...

    Imagine the lineup:

    Garett
    Staiger
    Johnson
    Brackins
    Hamilton

    Alas, it is a dream.

edit: At least offensively, that would be a potent lineup.

Re: A walkon, foreigner, and 'project'

I'm happy with how all 3 played but I guess I don't understand all the excitement today following the game? We lost the game by 8 points. Texas is a good team, but we're not slouch of a program, either. If we didn't win today I expected to be competitive like we were.

People are giving Diante a tough time but I thought he did some positive things out there. I was also glad to see McD not play Wes E. He hasn't earned playing time yet IMO.

I usually prefer to let the past stay done, but I'll indulge. That would be awesome, and a potentially undefeated team. On the right night, we can beat anybody on our schedule. With WJ, we would expect to beat most of them, and sign our dance card.

Idiot Wesley. Sit on the bench instead of start for a team that could've been ranked right now. Idiot.

At the same time, McD earns more respect from me for playing those freshmen in the non-conference season, and giving guys a chance to see D1 basketball (without a fake scheduling scandal). That experience they gained, and the fact that he has shown that anyone on the roster can earn their playing time, will pay huge dividends next year.

Yeah, I think McD has handled the new guys well with how he's used them. I wish we could get a bit more out of Vanderbeken/Thompson. Cannot wait until Gilstrap gets here next year. I also think JVB will be a different guy next year.

AT is a popular target, but I'll still defend the guy as being someone we're going to miss next year. He was a big reason that Texas didn't pull away with Craig on the bench. And, when Ham was making his little run, we didn't gain any ground...because our best post defender was on the bench.

Hammer the guy all you want, but he's made a habit of being a tough guy for opposing post players to get good looks against.

And he played a lot better on the offensive end than people are admitting. Made some nice passes, no hands-of-stone problem, and a couple of nice little drives. Alex played a real nice game.

Who's to say Boeheim's system won't show his skills off a little better than ours would?

A friend of mine that is pretty close to Wesley says that he really wants to be a pro, so that he can help his family out.
