    HB #40

A hidden message? For a number of years an ISU B-BALL player
from Iowa wore the number 40 to remember Chris Street, IF
I remember right. Barnes wears that number right now. It
would be great if he continues to wear the number 40 in his home
    town.

    Re: HB #40

Make no mistake, he cares and wants to win a state championship for the Little Cyclones before winning a national championship for the big Cyclones.

    Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
    'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Granted, rule 674, part C, paragraghs 3 and 4 were broken, but you are just mean. If you don't like Harrison Barnes threads, don't read them. (IMHO) Imaginary negative rep for you.

Also, I would guess # 40 is worn because that was his dad's number(At least I think it was).

Hmm, maybe Chris Street wore number 40 in honor of HB's dad and HB is going to go to Iowa secretly out of respect for the Street family...

    Re: HB #40

Lets see I choose 40 and 41 in Basketball in high school... Ever crossed anyone's mind that maybe he likes that number and there is no connection to Chris Street here.

Heck I'm 28 now... Chris Street's accident happened when I was in SIXTH Grade. How old was Harrison???

About someone not wearing #40. Yes what happened was tragic. But how many of these players, coaches, or even fans remember??? I'm sure if you asked a casual fan they wouldn't even notice #40 not being used. If you want a to see a tribute to Chris Street (an Iowan, but Hawkeye) they have a great one down in his high school gym. I'm guessing the University of Iowa has one too.

Now if this happened to an ISU player how long would you expect the Iowa program to honor an oposing player?? I'm guessing it would be over a season or more. Just a different time now.

In fact when Brian Pearson died I thought Iowa might reciprocate and have someone wear #3 in his memory, but I don't recall that ever happened

I think the point of it was so people WOULD remember. When it happened, Orr said that they would make it a tradition that a player from the state would ALWAYS wear #40. That continued every year untill this year. I guess I expected ALWAYS and TRADITION to mean it was something that wouldn't stop.

What gave Orr the right to say that? Was that an official ISU decision, or Johnny talking on his own?
BTW, when Street's parents made the decision to sue the poor snow plow driver (when their son is the one who caused the accident), the whole #40 thing was cheapened for me...

    Re: HB #40

Not to be glib but I could care less if any of our Iowa State players wears his number. I mean honestly.. Does someone on Iowa wear Brian Pearson's number of every year? Do they know who he is? I wouldn't expect Iowa to do it or even care.

I would guess that they're avoiding #3 after Pierre made it look so good.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
