    Jeff Woody SEP HS

The other day there was a post on Jeff Woody, running back from Southeast Polk being back in the mix with the new ISU staff. Anyone know anything about this kid? Any inside info?

I think he's the type of kid you get if you're PR. Not gonna re-write the Big XII record books but can play a variety of possessions and an absolute beast physically.

I agree, I was talking to his head coach the other day, I think it is Brad Zelenovich, and he was very high on Jeff's ability (vision, speed, work ethic). Sounds like a good kid.

    Re: Jeff Woody SEP HS

Other than he was (is) scary good when he is healthy, I have no inside info.
I do know several coaches at D2 and NAIA staffs and several of them didn't plan on recruiting him because they thought he was a shoe-in for ISU or Iowa.
Then around mid season he wasn't getting recruited by the big ones even though he was putting up stellar numbers.
Some lower levels started sneaking in. Now it appears he is back on the radar.
Very good RB, but I could see him being a safety or OLB in college.

From what I hear and from limited interaction with him, he is an extremely bright young man and very humble.

    Re: Jeff Woody SEP HS

Having watched him play, I am not sure he is D1 material. He runs like a beast and is tough to bring down at the HS level, but he does not have all that great of speed and with college sized linebackers I think he would come down alot easier.

Now, he might make a nice Mike linebacker.

If Ryan Koch can be successful at ISU, can't a kid like Jeff Woody?

Koch waited until his final game to be successful. Not his fault.

I heard from someone that he was going to Nebraska, but maybe because the in-state weren't really recruiting him???

Koch was a very good player his entire junior and senior years. He was just underutilized away from goal line situations.

    Re: Jeff Woody SEP HS

I don't know if speed is the issue as he was a qualifier in the sprint events last spring. I think I saw somewhere where he is around the 4.6 to 4.7 range.

Does skin color have anything to do with him not having an offer? I hate to play that card, but it does make you wonder.
