So this must be the guy that everyone talks about as a fall back for Barnes? Sounds like a similar skill set as HB, can play and defend multiple positions.

Someone posted that his offer is conditional on Barnes' decision. Anyone have more information on that?

With our luck at Iowa State I would like to wish Harrison good luck at North Carolina and Melvin Ejim good luck whereever he choses not named Iowa State.

    Re: Melvin Ejim

In the past couple years our coaching staff and players have treated Harrison Barnes with absolute royalty within the laws of the NCAA...I can't think of an instance here at ISU where a recruit has legally been recruited as hard or given as many priviledges as Harrison has...It's Harrison's life, and only he can decide what's best for himself, so it'd be pointless to be upset at him if he chooses somewhere else, but I sure hope we don't miss out on solid fallback options following him around another year, waiting for him to announce he's going to North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Florida, etc...

I'm pretty sure this was the guy that was the "fall-back." But it is hard to call him that based on how good he is, he played in the Nike Global Challenge.

hardly a fall back option IMO

    Re: Melvin Ejim

I'd give him the scholarship over Barnes before he decides to move on. If it came to that.

I'm glad I'm not the one to make the decision because the longer this deal goes on, the more I agree with statement.

    Re: Melvin Ejim

Could we get a commit from this guy right now? Our chances would have to be much higher than the average cyclonefanatic.com poster believes they are before we'd be better off not taking a commit from him to gamble on Barnes.

I'd say offer the kid, because barnes doesn't seem like he is going to commit any time to soon

    Re: Melvin Ejim

This probably is a violation of the NCAA, but because HB is an awesome student, couldn't they offer him a academic scholly? This would help with trying to focus on the 'fall backs'.

    Re: Melvin Ejim

I know that everyone wants Barnes (so do I) because he is good and a hometown kid, but I think we should offer them both and hope that one commits. If Ejim commits, that would be great. We could wait a very long time for Barnes and odds are probably not in our favor. There is a choppy My Space video (google his name) of him dunking. He looks like he has hops. The plus is that he will be playing against a lot tougher competition at Brewster than Barnes does in Iowa. Most of the eastern prep schools have 5 plus D1 kids on their teams. A friend of mine who refs varsity and AAU games in Iowa, has watched Harrison and thinks he is good, but has a hard time believing that there isn't a better SF in '10' from Chicago, New York, etc. I would be happy with either player.

Harrison doesn't get all the hype from high school basketball. It's all from AAU with the attack. He has been invited to several invite only camps, like the the lebron james one and the nike elite one. He is one the best in the nation, regardless of the fact that he plays high school in iowa
