    ? for ISUClones33

This is from the wayback machine (), but how did we go from Gene is going to take over the DC job to Gene is leaving for Auburn? What were you hearing that said that Gene was going to be running the defense and from whom? Was he telling the players that? Was it just that he wasn't actively seeking a DC while he was off interviewing OCs?

It doesn't really matter now anyway, but I still couldn't get excited for Gene to take over the D. He had the resume, but I still think he had to take a lot of the blame for how bad our D was last year and didn't know how next year's D would be much better than maybe our '07 D under him.

    Re: ? for ISUClones33

went from Gene telling people it was a real possibility, to Gene and his wife escaping to The Plains and eventually, behind his players backs, taking the HC position at Auburn.

It might be crazy that i had a dream last night of me getting to be with Gene for a short period of time and me really letting him have it for what he did to these players, this university, and the fans.
If i remember every detail of it accurately, Gene ended up feeling like a major butt and issued a sincere apology to Iowa State and his former players. Crazy, crazy dream.

doesn't matter - ISU has a better staff today than it did a month ago, plus they have an extra $750K to put towards bowling out the end of the stadium when the NEW staff takes ISU to the promise land.

It would be nice to see ISU bowling in 09 and have AU go 3-9 and Chizdik get canned.

Gene helped ISU by leaving. He just did it in a ****** way.

Chiz won't get fired after one bad year. Even there.

I'm guessing that's already spent either in coaches, or in a buyout with CPR...

If they fire the AD, Gene would be in serious trouble even after 1 year.

    A buyout from where, exactly?

    $750k Auburn bonus dispersion:

($50k) wasted travel by Geno to La La Land
($300k) relocation expenses for new coaches
($50k) cutrate meltdown of Geno coins
($50k) new website, media briefings, business cards
($25k) redistribution of revamped media guides, reworked tickets
($50k) additional trips to retain recruits
($150k) accelerated ex coach staff buyout
($75k) contribution to restroom project compliments of Gene

Id rather have us and Auburn go bowling, get matched up against Auburn in lets say the Independence bowl. Then we proceed to kick the living crap out of them. Then all of our faithful fans that travelled down to the game can chant CHIZ DICK CHIZ DICK CHIZ DICK, until he leaves the field.

Or we could take the high road and win as classy fans - go crazy supporting our new coach and our players and silently bask in the understanding that losing in a bowl game to Iowa State University probably just put another nail in Chizik's coffin at Auburn.

have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.

So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough?

Ya that would be the proper thing to do but I think my way sounds a lot funner.

    Re: ? for ISUClones33

Apparently Gene just hired away the Univ of Minnesota Defensive Coordinator to take on the same role for Auburn (with a $100K+ annual raise). Now, he could be good, but I have to laugh at the possible reaction of the Auburn fans who already are scratching their heads over their head coach hire. Their "new" DC's U or M team gave up 132 points in their last 3 games... including the 55 to zip Iowa blow out. Hee hee hee...

Again, the DC could be good... just funny to think of Auburn fan reaction.

Yeah, but look at all that Auburn cupboard full talent he will have to make up for his inabilities to make adjustments at halftime.

    HALFTIME:
Gene: We are getting our arses handed to us in the trneches on defense. What are we going to do.
DC: Yeah, guys, yoiu are stinking up the field with all the eggs you are laying. You need to make some tascjkles, cover your assignments, do soimething.
Gene: DC, this is youre problem. Make some adjustments.
DC: Okay guys, we are going to start to run our special blitz package from our safeties. Since they are running through our d line anyway, and they do not need to pass, it should work. I want all eleven in the box all third quarter.
    Gene: Then what?
DC: Then if we still have a problem, I start looking for another job bbecause I sure as hell do not want to be demoted just to get fired three weeks later like your past assignment.
Gene: Yes, that could happen. You are my first line of defense or should I say cannon fodder, DC.
