    Weightlifting

    I heard all of the talk about Getty and Shep, well here are two examples of two GREAT S&C programs.

    This is a link to the USC football workout.
    Strength Training with USC Football: STACK Magazine - Exercises, Training, Nutrition, High School Athletes

    This next one is an awesome video I found on YouTube. It shows Georgia Tech lifting weights, obviously meant for a GT fan, BUT: All of the players use PERFECT form, which shows they are very well coached, and they are clearly outstanding athletes. Whoever our new coach is also needs to emphasize good form.

    Re: Weightlifting

    Oh, by the way this is a video of BAD technique and poor coaching:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME4w3g_wUQk]YouTube - Colorado Football Strength & Conditioning[/ame]

    For those of you who don't recognize good technique, Good technique means the elbows finish high on power cleans and the tops of the thighs go completely parallel on squats. Poor technique results in serious injury in the weightroom and on the field. Not squatting deep is the #1 cause of hamsting tears!

    Now we can all laugh at Colorado! Haha they suck

    I really don't want getty to come to be honest....I've talked to a few players and they prefer shepp's working out compared to getty's

    Re: Weightlifting

    I can do that

    Not sure what the purpose of this thread is. Interesting video's, but are you saying something about Shep not teaching proper form. Just wondering, I've never seen our players workout to compare.

    Re: Weightlifting

    Speaking of Weight rooms, If anyone gets a chance they should check out Johnstons new weight room at the high school. Since I'm back on break, I was able to check it out and wow! better then probably most D-2 and D-3 schools.

    Re: Weightlifting

    Might be good to keep form to prevent injuries, but go take a look at the lifts during the NFL combines. The NFL scouts don't give a crap about form and technique because all you see is guys bouncing the weight off their chests during the bench. All they care about is moving the weight any way possible. It is definitely not sanctioned powerlifting. As long as we don't have more injuries than normal, I guess I don't care who our S&C coach is.

    No, nothing against Shep or Getty, I just heard someone say on the Coach Sheppard thread that he just let the guys do bicep curls and other things to make them look big. I just got to thinking on what is really important in football weightlifting.
