Thanks for the link! I always love to hear what Bruns has to say. I respect his opinion a lot where ISU is concerned.

    Re: Great Ben Bruns Blog

The fact that Gene Chizik could only muster at most 3 minutes for his two years’ worth of connection with a team, not answering any questions, he might as well have walked in, peed on the floor and walked out.
    HA! Loved that.

    + rep to Ben Bruns.

That was one of the best articles I have ever read on this subject.

    Re: Great Ben Bruns Blog

It's really interesting to hear an "insiders" take on the whole situation. I personally bought into Chizik's portrayal of himself as a coach who would build the team from the ground up, do it the right way and above all, be a coach to the young men and a example of integrity. I was really excited to have this kind of coach as my coach (or my team's coach). I had hoped Chizik might become the next Barry Alvarez. My Cardinal & Gold colored glasses obviously were in full use and it's good to learn about some of the reality that the typical fan like myself isn't privy to.

Reading this helps me quite a bit as I have been so disgusted with how Chizik handled the whole situation. I still am, but knowing more of the truth makes me a little happy that he is gone and even more excited about the Rhoads hire. I love the fact we have a guy who truly loves Iowa State, the passion is obvious and for me, contagious.

From everything I've heard, Coach Rhoads is the kind of coach and man I had thought/hoped Chizik was. I am really excited that this program will be run the right way, with integrity being paramount!

    Re: Great Ben Bruns Blog

Not because of this article, but it sounds like Gene leaving these kids high and dry has really pulled them together. Hopefully that will bode well for the next few seasons. I do appreciate Ben's viewpoint and I was shocked that the coaching staff was treated no better than thte players.

    Re: Great Ben Bruns Blog

Great read - I just wish Ben would have asked Chizik more direct questions about his program (like after the Baylor game) instead of being a shill like John and Eric, but oh well...

Exactly. I don't understand all these cheap shots people are taking AFTER he leaves. If he was that bad, don't hold back and share your concerns while he's here.

    Re: Great Ben Bruns Blog

I agree. Why are we touting people as great who came out with opinions after he left?
I'm surprised Learfield Communications (they run the radio broadcasts, right?) allow an employee to write a blog like this.

    Re: Great Ben Bruns Blog

    Great article, thank you Ben.

For those of you concerned about why someone like Ben or Paul Clark or even John Walters wouldn't speak up while chizik was here...do you guys seriously think you would go on air and complain about these things that you see? Because some things are best left to yourself while they are going on. I love how guys come on here saying Ben should have been on the sidelines personaly calling out individual coaches and slamming them personally...yeah that would have been constructive.

Well, when you lie to everyone, pack up shop, and leave without really answering any questions, that's what you get.
