    Driving to game tonight

What's everyone think the roads will be like? My wife is a little worried about making the trip.

Misting a little bit in Ames now. Road weren't bad a little bit ago, but as the temperature falls it could get interesting.

    Re: Driving to game tonight

I would NEVER say this normally, but if I lived outside of Ames I would think twice before making the trip. I just drove around Ames a few minutes ago to take some movies back and the roads are horrible. Slickest of the year by far. I know having people at the game is HUGE, but at the same time safety is more important.

Edit: If you are planning on making the trip, give yourself plenty of extra time.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Driving to game tonight

it's 33 and wet in DSM right now, came into town on HWY 6 about an hour ago and was just wet but the side streets are a touch slick in spots. going to make the trip up early and just take our time and hope the temp doesn't dip too cold before 10 tonight that I-35 is just slow but drivable.

    Re: Driving to game tonight

I always found that highway 69 was better to drive on when the roads were slick than 35. Not as many people trying to go 80 on ice.

Corrected that for ya... seems like we are starting to become Hawk fans the past couple years where everyone heads for the concourse or exits at the 4 minute timeout

I like to yell at those folks telling them they are going to miss the end of the game! I can maybe understand it more if we are out of it by then but I have seen some leave when we were either up or close enough we could come back and win and that's just dumb to leave then I think.

It's about 4:30 pm and the roads are bad and getting worse. If you're planning on making the game and driving safely, I'd leave now and drive about 25-30 mph. Better yet, stay home and watch the game on ESPN 360 or Mediacom.

Thanks for the report. Looks like I'm listening to the radio again.

Im just going to leave 45 minutes before when I normally do. Going 30 MPH sucks, but wont be too bad.

Last home game, the family that sits next to me left with about 8 min. to go - they were hungry and the concessions were out of hot dogs...
