    Passport trouble

In the international bowl game between Uconn and Buffalo do the players have to get passports? What if they are a convicted criminal? Do they just not get to go or is there a free pass for them?

    Re: Passport trouble

I believe the rules have changed in the past year. It may be possible to get across (into Canada) without one, but getting back into the US is the problem, IIRC. I believe this is one of the reasons that passport applications were so far behind a year ago. And yes, it is not easy for convicted felons to get into Canada.

I do not know if provisions are in place to waive the rules for the International Bowl.

    Re: Passport trouble

Funny you ask, I wondered the same thing about an hour ago. Would it be something that teams from both conferences (with bowl tie-ins) would look into at the beginning of the year?

I was also thinking about all of the fans who would travel to the game. Would they just be out of luck if they didn't have a passport when the bowl announcements came out?

If Iowa and Miami were playing in it, there might be a problem

    Re: Passport trouble

I may be wrong but I think we have agreements with Mexico and Canada that if you go by ground you do not need a passport. However if you travel by air, you need a passport. Again, I may be wrong on this one.

It is the at the discretion of the border patrol.

    Re: Passport trouble

at this time you don't need one. But within the next year you will either need a passport or a passport card to travel to mexico or canada by ground.

This was supposed to go into effect last spring but was delayed a year.
