    NFL or NCAA Football

The NCAA is much more thrilling to me because I have a connection to Iowa State. I am an alum. I have no connection with any pro team, so I dont see why people would be so crazy with the pros. I understand the love for teams but being an alum is different right. or am i wrong

It's hard to explain to people who don't live in a city with real pro teams, IMO.

Pro teams are part of the identity of the city you live in. If you identify with that city strongly, you identify with the sports teams as much as alumni do with their college teams.

College is great because it covers so much more of the country, IMO.

I love college sports, and I personally think it's way better than the pros, but pro sports are just as compelling for people that identify with them.

Agree...can't really get into pro sports as far as really following a team. I suppose if I grew up in a city that had a franchise it might be different.

    Re: NFL or NCAA Football

Family I have that live in a city with a pro team, much like the NFL alot better. So I guess it depends on who you ask. I much prefer NFL, just because almost every game I go to, I always have fun. College football games I have been to, not so much ( this ISU football season). I guess it also depends on the team, I remember during like the 2002 football season, the ISU vs Nebraska game was the best college game I have been to.

    Re: NFL or NCAA Football

NCAA all the way for me. I have never really got into following pro sports, I like to follow individual players, more so than teams. If there's a big college game, I would definitely go out of my way to watch it, if there's a big pro game, I could probably care less. Even worse than the NFL, is the NBA, IMO. I have absolutely ZERO interest in the NBA.

But you identify with the state you live in. It's sort of the same thing.

I actually like the college game better. There's more variety. All the "pro" offenses and defenses are more or less the same.

There's no triple option, or spread option or crazy weird formations or whatnot in the pros. It's all so corporate and "staid". And there really aren't any "underdogs". The teams are full of mostly equally talented players and coaches and are all equally funded, more or less.

    It's just "blah".

I drop what I am doing to watch college football regardless of who's playing and what level.
I only watch NFL if my Vikes are on (I hope they are on Sunday, still 11k tickets left)

    Re: NFL or NCAA Football

The Rose Bowl had Keyshon Johnson on for an interview. They asked him about the differences between playing in the NCAA vs the NFL. He was talking about how the NFL it is just all about the money. In college people are playing for an education, a chance at the NFL, and for fun. NFL players are playing because if they don't perform, they lose their lively hood. Also stated that NFL teams are making an investment in the players on the team, and they expect great reward for that investment.

That being said, I will always enjoy college sports much more because the players are out there for the love of the game, knowing full well that they will not likely continue with the sport once their elegibility has expired.

    Re: NFL or NCAA Football

I am all for pro sports! I like the NFL more that college football and the NBA over college basketball...NFL games are much more exciting than college football imo but watching a sold out game in Hilton is better then the NBA games I have been to...(maybe a playoff game would be much different) But I still follow the NBA more than college basketball, I only follow the cyclones and big 12 for basketball otherwise i couldn't care less...
