Connect DVD player to Directv Box?

Ok, here is a dumb question probably.

I am going to be putting in a flat screen TV on my wall. I am pre-wiring everything inside the walls to make things clean.

SO....my new Direct TV HD DVR has an HDMI output. I went out and bought a freakin expensive HDMI cable that could make the extended run that I needed. Now the question is, can I connect my DVD player to my Directv box and watch it through there without running another long cable?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've never been able to figure out how to flip my Mediacom cable box to the input it has on it but I know it can do it.

So I need to go buy a long set of AV (RCA type) cables then?

    I can't find any longer than 12ft. I need about 25ft.

I don't have time to order because the drywall contractor shows up Friday to close in the walls.

I have checked BestBuy, Lowes, and Home Depot.

I wouldn't know where to begin to look in town, and it would probably be WAY expensive if you found them.

Have you thought about running conduit and then just pulling it later?

go to monoprice.com and quit paying so much for HDMI cable. Yes you will need two separate cables.

Radio Shack should have what you need if you're in a hurry.

that's the approach I'd take, were I you. Save you from having to open up the wall or fish new cable through when you want to add <insert new technology here> down the road...

edit: otherwise, Radio Shack is probably your best (most expensive) bet.

If Radio Shack does not have the length you need I know they have all the parts to make your own cables.

You could call a home technology company on Friday morning and buy some cable from them. The have it in huge rolls and then they just put all the ends on after the drywall/painting is complete. You can do wall plates with them which would make it even more clean looking for you.

Plus it would be much cheaper than buying 25' cables anyway!!
