    DS or PSP??

My daughter's 6th birthday is coming up, and wants a DS. I was just wondering what some of you thinks is better DS or PSP.

DS for your daughters 6th. PSP is too much power for a 4 year old. Plus the game availability is better under the DS since its a more popular system.

    Re: DS or PSP??

for a kid that age, definitely the DS. It has a much wider variety of games for kids. Plus, my daughter, 5-1/2, loves using the stylus. Not that a PSP is a bad purchase, it just seems more "gamer" oriented. Nintendo is well known for their kid friendly approach.

    Re: DS or PSP??

The DS certainly has a better library for younger children. My son (10) has had a PSP for about a year, and it's pretty cool and he likes it a lot, but there are many more game options on the DS.

Yep Nintendo = Kids (and big kids like most of us)
I love my PSP, but my nieces and nephew could care less.

DS for a 6 year old....I love my PSP though, but for a kid, DS has more kid oriented games, and a bigger variety of games as well.

Do any of your kids use a leapster? I was thinking about that instead of a DS.

    Re: DS or PSP??

I much prefer my DS over my brother in laws PSP, and I would definitely consider myself a "gamer". If I'm somewhere where I want to play a DS/PSP I just want something simple, fun, and easy to play, not try to play PS2 games on a handheld.

My 6yo daughter has been using her leapster for a couple of years and really enjoyed it. This year for Christmas we bought her a DS and she only puts it down when it's time for bed or to go to Hilton.

I would go DS depending on age.

    Re: DS or PSP??

Go with the DS if you want a larger selection of kid friendly games. The PSP is very nice, but probably more geared to older kids in the game selection.

    Re: DS or PSP??

DS outsells the PSP and has a better category for kids. I'm going to go with the board on this one.
