    Washer/Dryer Recommendations

So for the third time in as many weeks, I found myself tearing apart our Whirlpool washer to remove an article of clothing from the drain mechanism tonight. After finding a sock (and not the 500K credits that Misery was costing me) in the drain, I think that I have finally had enough...
Anyone have any recommendations on brands/models etc??? I think we will look to go with a front loader this time. Thanks!

Maytag Neptune or LG. We've had our Neptunes for over 8 years and they've been great. My brother has the LG and love them too.

Actually, I think Whirlpool makes the best front loader there is - The Duet. We have a set - no service issues, cleans great saves a bunch of water and energy over our old set. Well worth the $ - FWIW

    Re: Washer/Dryer Recommendations

Funny, when I open this thread the ad on top is for saving money on washer and dryers.

Anyway, I'd try a google search which would bring up something like this: Home & Garden | ConsumerSearch.com

They stopped building Neptunes when the factory in Newton shut down over a year ago

    Re: Washer/Dryer Recommendations

I would throw out a recommendation for Bosch. Very good with energy and water efficiency, are very well built, and quiet. Only downside is the wash cycle is usually a bit longer than some others so if you like to do a lot of loads in an evening that may be a factor.

    Maytag Neptune......

.....of course the Neptune is now made by Whirlpool........

I've owned since they first came out, 10 years or so, and I've not had a problem.

The whirlpool/kenmore toploader you have are short-lived heaps.

I'm finding that out! We had a seal replaced after clothes were getting under the agitator and that obviously wasn't the problem or at least all of the problem... Just $225 of it.
I think we should be happy getting just under 6 years out of this thing by what I'm hearing/reading.

These Samsung's with the silver thingy are quite interesting... Little ions from two sterling silver bars rubbing together help get your clothes cleaner... Who woulda thunk it? Only question left is can it handle a load of 3 legged jeans when I grow a 3rd leg from the silver ions in my clothing

I would agree. We have had ours for over two years with no problems. Whirlpool owns Maytag and the present Maytags are basically a dressed up Whirlpool.

I believe some Fridgidares are still made in Webster City if you want to support Iowa workers.

Just Whirlpool made products with the Maytag name...not made with as good as quality as Maytag's were and never will be!

    Re: Washer/Dryer Recommendations

I bought a set of Fischer- Paykel (sp?)about 3-4 years ago. High efficiency w/o the cost of some other models. Like them a lot. Had Whirpool before that and liked them also.
