I went to the Brewster Acadamy game today

Brewster played New Hampton and both teams have several players with D1 talent. The game was definitely suited to guard play as I don't remember any player on either team scoring with their back to the basket. Brackins looks NICE, but I would of liked to see him on the post more. He shot several three's and made one, I think. I was surprised that he was able to go to his left effectively. He did have one monster dunk on a mini fast break where the guard hit him on the block with a bounce pass and he rose from outside the lane to flush the ball. He ended up with 12 points and probably around 6 - 10 boards (I did not keep track). He has a nice touch and is very athletic, but the game was set up for run and gun so maybe that was the reason he shot so many three's (I think he probably was 1 for 5 for three land).

I was really bummed out by how SWEET P'Allen Stinnett looked. The kid is nasty and he can jump out of the gym. At one point in the second half he hit 6 straight three's and he also had 4 or 5 highlight type breakaway dunks. He was "by far" the best talent on the floor TODAY, and I was impressed at how he got after it on defense, as well. He ended up with 32 and was easily the high scorer.
Brewster won by around 25 points and pulled away in the 2nd half behind Stinnett's play.

I also have the program from the game that I will try to add as a PDF to this thread.

    Yeah, Stinnet is MVC material.

    That's sadly funny.

Here is the program from the game.

The guard who signed with Texas seems like he could be a bit on the dirty side.

Brewster website reports final score as 90-60. Stinnett had 32 points (7 three's), while Brackins had 14 points and 7 rebounds.

I've heard good things about the Turkish kid (Dogus Balbay) who signed with Texas. What do you mean by 'dirty?'

    Dogus Balbay .....

was mixing it up a little bit. I guess you could call it scrappy play, but it seemed to me (and I may be biased because he will be playing for Texas)that he was / is a little dirty - kind of like Jason Sutherland (Mizzou). He's the type of player that you love if he is on your team and hate if he is your opponent. All in all, I do believe he will be a solid guard for Texas - seems like a tough kid.

I believe New Hampton has a guard (Darryl Ashford) headed to play for Coach Knight at Texas Tech. How did this Big 12 prospect look today?

I wasn't aware that Stinnett could shoot it that well! Seven 3-pointers is pretty impressive with that caliber of players on the court.

    Darryl Ashford headed to Tech

was pretty impresive. He has some good skills and IMHO was "by far" the best prospect on their team.

How did Emmanuel Negedu, Andre McFarland, and Tristan Thompson look, if you can remember?

    Negedu

looked good (very athletic)- he was alternating PT with Brackins in the 2nd half. I was impressed with McFarland, but I don't remember how Thompson played.

I'm going to watch Brewster play at Exeter here after the first of the year, as well as probably a few more times - their home games are only about 60 miles from my house. I'll keep a closer eye on those guys and give an update.

Re: I went to the Brewster Acadamy game today

If this has been covered previously I'm sorry, but I'm curious about how the P'Allen Stinnett recruiting situation went awry. I know he was waffling back and forth in the recruiting process once WM was let go, however I thought he would ultimately end up at ISU.

Did Mac ultimately cool off on him? Not to badmouth Creighton, Lord knows they've had more success that we have had over the last 5 years, but if Stinnet is a good as you say, I would have thought he ends up at a more well known school than the Bluejays. Anyone have the straight scoop on how we lost him?

    field33...
Thanks for taking the time to scout Brewster for us. It's nice to have an "insider" at these games to give a first-hand account. Keep up the good work
