I am not aware of any. I know there are interviews and contacts going on, but no new hirings that I know of.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

    Re: New Asst. Coach?

I like the PR hire, I like it a lot. What I do not want to see is a bunch of guys from Iowa coaching on this team though. No offense to anyone but I want guys that have been in other successful programs from various conferences and regions of the country. Not everyone needs a tie to ISU somehow...

Rumor on the auburn site has Gene with his staff nearly in place. Four guys from NFL staffs and 3 from ISU - Pelton, Boulware, & Koonz plus a couple others from other deep south staffs.

I couldn't agree more. We need some great recruiters with TX and FL ties. I hope the staff is a group with diverse experience and backgrounds.

Bleil is a native Iowan, yet he has coached in a variety of regions. Is he not "OK" to coach at ISU?

Coach Ash, do you object to him returning to ISU?

If PR chooses to offer staff positions to one or two coaches from GC's ISU staff, you would object?

To me, ISU connections are irrelevant to PR's staff search. I hope he hires those coaches who give him the best possible chance to build a successful program. If some coaches have ISU connections, fine. If some coaches do not have ISU connections, fine.

IMHO, the coach's ability -- not the institutions where he has coached during his career -- is the salient fact.

It is the man -- not the institution -- that matters.

    Re: New Asst. Coach?

You need to have some diversity within a program like this and there are not enough great coaches from Iowa to fill an entire staff. There are some coaches from old staff that I would like to see retain.

If they're smart they won't purchase a house down there.

Has the hiring of Coach Ash been verified?

"I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

I think just the one name has been verified. There has been no news on who is staying from the old staff or who is going to Auburn. But it has only been 1 week with Christmas in there. Whizik doenst have anyone hired and he has been at Auburn for 2 weeks.

    Re: New Asst. Coach?

Well, I heard (a few days ago) that we are a week or two out before OC and DC are chosen or at least made public. Does anyone think the OC and DC will be coming from bowl teams? Any insight as to what teams? Anything leaking at this point who might be the guy/guys?

So he's moving quicker than his halftime adjustments?
