    That one Christmas gift...

Whats that one Christmas gift that you really wanted when you were a kid, but never got? Does anybody remember the little Stomper trucks back in the '80's? I always wanted the styrofoam "Thunder Mountain" set for the trucks, but never got it.

I remember this all-in-one Pinball/Basketball Hoop/Pool table that I really wanted when I was younger. It's easy to laugh at now, but I was highly disappointed at that age.

I would always look through the JC Penny catalog and dream of getting the Hutch football uniform. Santa knew my brothers and I were a little to rough to have them though.

I grew up on a farm and always wanted an old tractor that I could restore and repaint. A John Deere A or B, a Massey Harris 44, a Case VAC, an Allis Chalmers WD-45, a Farmall F-20, H, C or F-12. Never happened though.

I've got a 1943 John Deere B that was the first tractor my dad bought. I always said restoring it would be my retirement project, but if you want to do it... I could be playing golf. I'll give you 10 years - then I'm retired and I'll do it myself.

Never got the actual Optimus Prime. Got cheap versions (Ultra Magnus, pfft) and whatever the newest on-sale Transformer was, but never OP.

At least I had Rodimus Prime to keep me happy.

    Re: That one Christmas gift...

We didn't have much money growing up, and always had shoes from wal-mart. When I was turning 11 I needed a pair of shoes around my birthday right after Christmas, and my parents said "not to worry about it" and seemed all excited. I thought this was my big day where I'd open a package with Nikes, Reeboks, or Addidas shoes in there. It was one of the hardest things I'd ever done, but with all my friends looking on I held back the tears when I opened my brand spanking new pair of "Pony Drive" basketball shoes.

Today I still cherish the lessons in frugality, restraint, and delayed gratification that I learned in those years, but damn that was a tough few minutes for an 11 year old to smile and act excited

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

    Re: That one Christmas gift...

When I was about 8, I desperately wanted a Nerf mini-golf set. I had these gradeschool delusions of building elaborate mini-golf courses out of books and stuff. My parents didn't get it for me, and I forgot about it in a year or two. When I was about 13, they got me the Nerf mini-golf set after they remembered I wanted it a few years ago. It wasn't nearly as much fun as I thought it would be a few years before.

I acually still have this problem to this day. For instance, if I was to say to the Mrs. that I am going to go out and buy myself ________. She'll say something to the effect of "Don't go buy ________ because I know that someone is already getting you that for X-mas. So I anxiously wait for X-mas to roll around. And when it does _______ isn't under the X-mas tree and I feel cheated out of all of that time I could have had using _______ in the meantime.
