My son broke the tv last night...NO!!!!!!!!!

I came home last night to find a nice little crack on the inside of our 42" LG lcd tv. Sound is fine, but no pic besides a few pretty lines and what looks like someone a star where someone hit it.

Sitting right below the tv was a stupid little noise maker toy my 3 year old son likes to shake around. Hmmm....I asked him about the tv and he said worriedly, "I broked it".

I have the Best Buy extended warranty on it thank god, but I know they'll be pain in my rear about it all. Any chance they'll give me a replacement? Any one have options or ideas? I'll take'em.

Tell Best Buy that it came out of the box like that. If it's been a while since you bought it, tell them you're really ******* busy and needed to plan a year ahead of time to return it.

Oh yea, don't forget to throw a giant tantrum in the store by throwing and kicking things. That always helps.

Re: My son broke the tv last night...NO!!!!!!!!!

Based on my experience as an associate they probably won't, especially with the economy. Those plans they sell are service plans, not replacement plans and they only cover normal wear and tear. If you didn't have a crack you might have a case...

Your best bet is to tell them when you bought the TV the associate said the plan would cover accidents as long as there wasn't obvious intent to destroy the television to have it replaced (which may very well be the actual case). If you get the right manager theres a small chance they will honor it and maybe a greater chance that they will at least reimburse you the cost of the service plan so you can apply that to purchasing your new TV.. :)

I am sure there are other associates (hopefully not current managers!!) who post on this board who might know more. I am about five years removed from working there.

I have two St. Bernards, they know they are to keep their distance. The training collars came with a little deal that warns them before giving them a little jolt if they get to close. You are supposed to put it on the counter to keep dogs from checking that out. I just used it for the TV, beside they are tall enough they can look and see what is on the counter anyway.

I went to Best Buy's customer service forum sections. It sounds like it's going to be hell to get this fixed anytime soon. I think I'll let them do what they wanna do and go to Wal-Mart and buy one for a few weeks, then return it once mine is fixed or replaced.

BAD! Keep the Wal-mart TV and put it in your garage or something. Are the new TVs running low on inventories? I'm seeing ads for cheap 32" lcds, brand names I've never heard of, for a couople hundred. This could get you through the bowl season and it's basically a throw away machine so just keep it. Mount it in the garage and get it wired into your garage opener. Drive in the garage, TV is on. Use it like an old fashioned drive-in theatre.

I've actually been thinking about getting a HDTV for the bedroom, hmmm, perhaps this is the time.
