Anyone remember the Pitt/WVU game last year??

Rhodes's defense absolutely shut down Pat White and Steve Slaton. Mauled 'em, really. I think there is no doubt that the guy knows football. If he has solid recruiting ties from his time out east, that could be big. If he brings in a solid staff around him, I think there is potential here. My biggest knock on him is the lack of hc experience.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Re: Anyone remember the Pitt/WVU game last year??

    From Wikipedia

"In 2002, coach Tommy Tuberville offered Rhoads a job to fill a vacant spot for defensive coordinator at Auburn.[1] Having completed only his second season at Pitt, Rhoads passed on the job with Tuberville eventually hiring Gene Chizik"

    Classic!

"In 2007, Rhoads' defense was among the nation's leaders in various categories, finishing third nationally in pass defense (allowing just 167.3 yards per game)."

    MUCH NEEDED!

Re: Anyone remember the Pitt/WVU game last year??

What is funny is that a few weeks ago this guy was one of a few names listed as possible DC replacement. Instead we get him as a head coach. He could end up doing good things here. One thing is that he's more 'long-term' than most other candidates which is a great thing for some program stability. However, it's hard to get excited about an out of work defensive coordinator.

He had job offers, both college and NFL.

I think when people hear him speak, they will get on board

A1 choice. Rhoads was by far the best chioce in terms of what he can do now and later. You think he knows defense wait til this man gets a chance to do something with the ball. Arnaud should be the happiest man in the state and Pollard can finally breathe easy.Best part, All Hawkeyes just **** the bed.

I remember that game very well, that defense was dominant against a very good offensive team. Let's hope our defense can play this way in the near future!

    Go Cyclones!!
