    KXNO

Has KXNO turned out to be the biggest loser during this whole coaching search? Here are my reasons.

#1 According to Jon Miller, this week and next are not ratings periods. I assume a lot more people have been listening.

#2 Since more people are listening I'm assuming that they are getting some new listeners.

#3 So far this week the programing has been a train wreck. I think Jon Millers show has actually been the only one that's been decent with the coverage. You had Cottler reporting one thing in the morning (Fulmer), a couple hours later you have Marty putting on the web site that the Fulmer thing is a joke, a couple hours later you have Marty saying that the Stoops hire is in final negotiations from his "source". Now this morning you have Cottler explaning himself. Don't you think it would be wise to work together?

I like local sports radio and KXNO is the only option but this combo doesn't seem to be working out very well.

    Just one guys observations.

If the books get as much play as they do on these boards, they'll be just fine.

    Re: KXNO

They don't have to answer to anyone since they have a monopoly over local sports radio. They can do whatever they want because they know people have to listen if they want to hear about ISU, Iowa, prep sports, etc.

I agree. Jon Miller is the only one that has seemed remotely credible.

The only people credible in this search process are Jamie Pollard and those who admit that they know absolutely nothing.

I think we can just leave this with these thoughts....

    1. Cotlar has the worst sports show on the radio. He is boring to listen to, never has any substantial (factual) information, plays the crappiest music I have ever heard, and has a co-host who doesn't have a great knowledge of sports.

    2. Jon Miller is a Hawk homer. All he does is try to stir the pot with Cyclone fans to get people angry enough to listen to his crappy show so they can come on here and post negatives about the Chokeyes and his show. He conveniently then comes on here to get new material for his crappy show and the cycle starts over again the next day. If it wasn't for the animosity of Cyclone fans this guy would be off of the air tomorrow.

    3. Marty and Miller... I am at a loss for words with these two. As far as sports are concerned this show is a total trainwreck. The only time this show is ever amusing is when Marty does something stupid like his personal attack on the air about a guy who allegedly stole his press pass to the US Open or when he and Miller yell and scream at each other. This is only amusing as it makes you wonder why they even have a show. Wait.... Maybe the show should be called the Toyota of Dsm and Stogdills 3 hours of ear splitting pain show with co-hosts Dumb and Dumber?

Local sports talk radio in Dsm is a freaking disaster.

I agree. The hosts of the shows have very low IQs. I just can't stand listening to people that SOUND dumb. Jon Miller has some OK things, but he talks SO SLOW that he comes off as being dumb too!

You can tell by the people that call in. When someone calls in with something SO obvious, then the hosts are like "yeah" or have to explain it to them.

When someone calls in with a valid question, the hosts are like "good point" or "good questions" and then can't answer it.

None of these guys have any kind of sports credibility or journalistic credibility. I'm curious what any of their backgrounds are. I'm pretty sure Marty and Miller don't have college degrees for example..

    Re: KXNO

The best programing they have had in a long time is when Hassle and Terrell from WHO sports guest hosted the Jon Miller show. Seriously can we get these guys their own show please?

I wouldn't call that a sports show though... I listened and it was more like they were auditioning for the improv than trying to do any sports talk...

He has to talk slow so the Iowa fans understand him. The worse part it is the rest of the DSM media is taking what Marty says and doing stories about it.

I only caught about 30 seconds of it before I got to work, but he basically said that "nobody knows who the coach will be" and "we're all just guessing".

I think Hassel could do his own show and do a pretty good job of it.
