    More posts=More credibility?

It seems that ever since cyclonefanatic.com was on the news there has been an influx of "new posters" on this board. There is also an abundant other college fans from other colleges that come here and post credible stories and happenings from their respective school.

What I have seen a lot lately is new posters come on here make what I think is a fairly legit post and get downgraded by other posters just because they have 1, 2, or 3 posts. You don't have to live on this site and worship it and have a large amount of posts to have credibility I believe.

Has anyone else noticed this and do you think about more posts=more credibility?

I know there are some people that come on and are just plain stupid in their first posts but for every stupid ignorant new poster there are 4-5 good posters that are new also

Discuss... Just had to throw that discuss in there from a long thread ago lol

    Re: More posts=More credibility?

I just hate when the new posters come on and start a topic that is already been reported/discussed in four other threads.

Or new posters come on and report news and don't give a source!!

    Re: More posts=More credibility?

I think it has more to do with someone coming in and trying to throw out "big news" in regards to a coaching candidate.

I'm all for new members to the site.

    Simple answer...no.

There are a few people here that almost never post, however, they've posted enough and been right enough that you know their info/sources are solid.

I don't think it's a post count as much as a few people knowing you're info is often good and having members trust you.

Yeah, it's not easy to just trust the first post secret beholders. Many times they're trolls, but there have been cases of them being right.

    Re: More posts=More credibility?

It is much easier to come here for the first time ever and spread fire, because no one knows who you are and thus there is no way to gauge how credible they may be. Anybody, for example, Hawkeyes, could come here and disguise themselves as a true Cyclone and make something up that is not true.

I tend to trust poster's that have been a member of the site for a long time and seem to input valuable and mostly true information and insight. It doesn't necessarily mean they have 10,000 posts. What they say is more important.

Part of it is we know where those that post a lot are coming from.

I've noticed that as well, and I don't like to see that. New posters should be welcomed, as it adds to this community. I don't know ****, but I post constantly.

    Re: More posts=More credibility?

I think Avatar's are a much better source for credibility.

Take me for example, nothing says cred like Cookie Monster eating the gingerbread man

    Re: More posts=More credibility?

I think more posts in general can mean more credibility, but in a time like this, people in the know who don't post a lot actually may have the info.

    Yeah, me neither.

Then again, I won't be breaking any news... unless that news is what the weekly marching band show is.

Which, to most, probably isn't news..

Are we talking "street cred" or message board credibility, because the spectrum is vast for me
