    VOLUNTEER fan on board!

I just caught wind that my beloved coach (yes, he is still my coach) could have aspirations to lead the ISU program. After reading the thread concerning Coach Fulmer, I'd like to chime in on a few things.

There has been rumblings about getting rid of Fulmer....even after he led us into last years SEC Championship game (where we lost to eventual MNC LSU). It has been going on for years by a lot of my ignorant Volunteer brethren. No win was ever good enough and even though we have appeared in more SECCG in the last 11 years than any other SEC school (going 2-3), people want to harp on the 3 losses and totally forget the two wins....or even, that we were able to win the Nations toughest division (SEC East....Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy) as late as 12 months ago.

Where Fulmer has lost step is not adjusting his mindset to the level of competition. He was still trying to run the same schemes he ran back in the 90s and made us one of the winningest programs in the 90s. The problem is, UGA, UF and South Carolina have adjusted their programs and in actuality, exceeded ours.

And it cost him his job.

I don't know much about ISU football but I do know that a) he can get you guys some recruits and b) is solid enbough to get you at least 5-8 wins a season. Being totally honest with you all, Ames Iowa is going to be a tough sell. But so was Knoxville Tennessee when he took over back in 1993 and he made it into something that new coach Jane Kiffen should have a cake walk with.

Ok....fire away....Im ready to answer any questions that I can about my Coach!

We (most of us) would take him in a Knoxville minute.

I hope he wants to come here. That'd be awesome. Biggest hire in the history of ISU Athletics.

Did he have some NCAA violations or academic fraud issues. I might be thinking of Arkansas.

Are you a Tennessee fan that is living in Tennessee?

If so... How did you catch wind of this?

    Re: VOLUNTEER fan on board!

Will he get paid by UT if he coaches somewhere or is that $6M contract state that he forfeits that if he coaches?

BTW, Johhny Majors was our coach prior to UT, so there is some familiarity...

Was the "Jane" Kiffin just a typo or was it an intential jab at Tennessee's new coach. Either way, I found that pretty funny!

Have there been any run ins with the NCAA during Fulmer's tenure? I think no, but could you confirm.

    Re: VOLUNTEER fan on board!

    First, welcome on board!!

    1. Can you comment on the character of his kids? Off field problems get a lot of attention here in the Midwest. (See Iowa Hawkeyes)

    2. Even with a good defense you need to score a lot of points in Big XII. Maybe you've already answered this but will he be able to put 30-40 points per game on the board?

Is there some staff that may come with him?

This is a bit OT, but since we're talking about Tennessee.. I like their colors the best out of any other team in the nation.

    Re: VOLUNTEER fan on board!

Just name recognition alone would be huge...and also if was able to bring in some of his coaches that would put us in a good position. He doesn't really run any fancy schemes, so the transition might be seamless. And sorry to say, but you know how some recruits follow the coach that recruited them, maybe some may funnel our way.
