Iowa Speedway to host Truck race in 2009

I know there are some NASCAR fans on here, and wanted to pass this along. I just found out about it and I'm thrilled! First a Nationwide Race and Now a Camping World Truck Race; 2 out of the 3 major NASCAR circuits isn't bad

What's worse than the nextel cup? The nascar truck series.

If you don't like NASCAR why bother commenting, besides it's not the Nextel Cup; it is the Sprint Cup.

Re: Iowa Speedway to host Truck race in 2009

Genuine question: how is a Nascar truck race different from a car race? I'm not really sure how to even phrase the question, but what is the point? Is there some fundamental difference in how the two are done?

(If somebody's going to give a snarky "they drive trucks instead of cars", don't bother.)

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Seriously, that's about the only difference. It's essentially the nationwide series with different drivers (mostly) and el caminos instead of sedans.

    it's pretty horrible.

The "truck" series is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

They drive trucks and not cars

I couldn't resist! Other than the difference of truck and car, there isn't much. Bigger name teams use the truck races to give experience to up and coming drivers, but you still have teams that are exclusively truck teams.

    It would be better, IMO.

I think british touring car racing is what Nascar SHOULD be. It's so freaking awesome.

actually the trucks are cars. the chassis is about the same as the nationwide and sprint cup cars but the sheetmetal that covers them make them look like trucks.

Which is why it's so absurd. It's straight up pandering to the pickup truck crowd.

    Real men race these:

Not to mention wheel base length and the size of the hole the truck body cuts in the wind. You guys are showing short-sighted ignorance. Truck racing is really the best of the NASCAR sanctioned races.

    Two exceptionally minor things.

The "hole it cuts in the wind" is nearly identical to the cars. The aerodynamics are way different, but it's still garbage.

It's a purpose built race chassis covered in sheet metal driving on ovals. The only thing that's "truck" about it is the name of the series.
