Why hasn't Chris Peterson been lured away?

I don't want to claim that Chris Petersen is a realistic target or would even consider ISU, but I wonder why no one has been able to lure him away from Boise.

His annual pay is less than $1m per year and he's won a BCS bowl and he's 35-3 if I'm not mistaken.

What the heck is keeping this guy in Boise?

This was only his third year there, and he inherited a pretty good program.

Given the struggles that Hawkins has been having at CU, I was wondering if Peterson was really the key to the success under Hawkins. Kind of like Monson and Few at Gonzaga.

Thatís interesting; the old rumor was that Hawkins was living off of Petersonís offense. I think Peterson should be interviewed.

Re: Why hasn't Chris Peterson been lured away?

Of WAC coaches I would much rather have Pat Hill than Chris Petersen. Boise State has been the, "we'll do everything we can do to stay undefeated and attempt to get into a BCS bowl that way." Fresno State has been and quoting Pat Hill here, "we'll play anyone...anywhere." I love that.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

He is considered to be a very innovative offensive mind. I really think ISU needs to try to find a coach that has that type of reputation. It is obvious that he can coach. I was amazed that he was able to knock OU off it's pedestal in the Fiesta Bowl.

Do we really want another Boise St coach? The last one we got from there did not work out too well, and I think he is coaching a HS team now.

Re: Why hasn't Chris Peterson been lured away?

I don't know, wild guess here, but maybe he is a man who is wise enough to consider success and quality of life are not equated to dollar signs. Maybe he can see the ultimate, unequivical glory he could attain if he simply continued Boise's ascent until they win possibly a national title. Maybe he sees that resume padding, over-aggresive careerism, and self-promotion do not bring you love and warm fuzzys. Maybe he likes Boise. Maybe he likes to ski in Cour'delene(spelling?). Napoleon Dynamite showwed us that happiness can lie in simple pleasures in the Snake Valley.

Lord, I admire the heck out of the guy for staying and would be bummed if he left for a PAC10 school as flavor of the month. I know sports agents have job security with all this job-jumping and encourage it. Do they get higher commissions than realtors? Not a big Tom Osborne fan, but who would not want to be Colonel Kurtz of his own little nation.
I nominate myself to be the Big Toe that Iowa State needs.

I recently read an article that said he really likes it there and it was more than the usual coach speak. He might eventually leave, but I don't see it happening soon.

I think the difference is that the last Boise St coach was a successful D I-AA coach, while this one is a BCS bowl winner (which, when you get right down to it, is a LOT more than you can say about any head coach this school has ever had)

Living out on the west coast I get to see Boise State play quite a bit. I would not say that they dodge anyone. They laid the wood to Oregon in Eugene this year. Petersen is a great coach and does it with 2 and 3 star guys. These are the types of athletes that ISU generally has to work with and he gets more out of them than any coach we have ever had. He is someone that I hope JP takes a long hard look at. Hill would also be an interesting hire, but Fresno State seems like they have been up and down a bit. Boise State has been consistently up for a long time.
