    For Laughs Johnny Orr Quote

When Iowa State hired Jim Criner from Boise State to be our head coach they had a nice press conference to announce this. Johnny Orr attended this press conference and it went something like the following:

Reporter: Jim what are your feelings about being at Iowa State?

Jim: I'm real excited to be here. These players are big and fast and I can't wait to get on the field this spring and see what we can do!

Johnny: You think these guys are fast, you should see the ****ers from Nebraska!

I love Johnny! I think he could still coach today and have great success...he knew how to spot and recruit talent.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Nothing was better than when they'd play the theme to The Tonight Show and he'd come walking out. I can't remember, might have been before his last year, during the Tip-Off Classic when they carried him in on the chair. Am I remembering this right anyone?

Dunno about that, but I remember the year he came out for the Tipoff Classic in a white tux and tails.

Yeah, I was a youngster. I could be remembering it wrong. All I know is I met him and Victor Alexander one summer and thought I had reached the pinnacle of success.

I find it funny that Johnny wouldn't let Dick Vitale come to Hilton, and he still hasn't been there.

The best part of the Vitale incident was when they said how bad it was for Lefty to win 25 games and not get invited to the tourney, Orr replied that if he played in Lefty's conference, he would have won 30 games. That is classic
