    Re: Mystery Candidate?

Great coach...inspirational leader...puts a winning team on the field every year despite playing against stronger teams each and every week. Size and Numbers.

I would put him near the top of the list of guys I would love to take over our program.

    Re: Mystery Candidate?

Do they still run the triple option out there? If so, I think we've had our fill of that.

Totally agree here. With the high powered offenses we face in the BIG XII the triple option would definitely be the wrong way to go.

    Re: Mystery Candidate?

I think you guys are wrong about the triple option. Look at Georgia Tech for example. It is a great way to keep the ball away from those high-powered offenses, and it is something that you don't prepare for every week. Texas Tech has gotten there with a unique pass offense, you could do the same with the triple option.

Being a leader and innovator isn't copying everyone else and hoping it works.

Leavitt will never leave South Florida. He literally built that program from absolutely nothing. Also, I think ISU would be a step down from there. Most years they'll have a legit shot in the Big East, and its in freaking Florida. He has a TON of local talent, and its easy to recruit to. We might as well be asking if Pete Carroll is available, lol...

Well, Pete Carroll was here once...maybe he's gotten tired of the warm weather, song girls, and surfing and wants to move back to the frozen northlands so here goes nothing... Pete, if you are reading this, I know of a certain school up north that would love to have you...their colors are even the same. Please, please, please come to Iowa State?

I agree with this. A true triple option offense could really shake up the league and make us hard to defend week after week. The bad thing is that the quarterback who could have made that offense work quit mid season.

    Re: Mystery Candidate?

I'm certainly not going to advocate for the return of the triple option, but I do think there is some real merit to running an offense that is outside the mainstream. If you think about it, defenses are gearing themselves to stop the most common offenses, including the spread. Why not hit them with something unique that they see less often. That makes us difficult to prepare for.

#1-This sounds like the Turner Gill complex
#2-Did you just compare Jim Leavitt to Pete Carroll!?

Exactly. Defenses are going smaller and quicker to defend the spread. Once that happens there will need to be a change to power running. things go in trends and right now so many are switching to the spread, the defenses will catch up. It wouldn't be a bad idea to stay ahead instead of trying to catch up
