Why don't you just say you hate Pollard because he forced McCarney out... why don't you make that your signature...

Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?

I blame this mess on CLONE2THEBONE. His talk of moving ISU to the MAC or MVC or wherever scared Chizik away and prevents ISU from getting good recruits.

The only other two logical choices to shoulder the blame for this mess are George Bush or MontyBurns. Perhaps we should split the blame equally between the three.

In the 5 years before Pollard, we had 4 bowl games and 3 BB tournament teams. In the 3+ years of Pollard, we've had no bowls, no tournaments, nothing.

I don't know about you, but I would rather be planning a bowl trip for 2 weeks from now than looking at a new concession stand behind an empty football stadium or construction site for a new practice facility.
All of the programs have gone to crap? Give me a break! Dan McCarney would be getting destroyed by the current Big XII. His recruiting classes his last two years were not very good top to bottom. We're paying for it now because we started a zillion underclassmen this past season, and we got smoked. McCarney left us very few great linemen, and we got smoked in the trenches. You can't expect freshman linemen to step in and be ready to play college football less than a year removed from high school football. It doesn't work.

Wayne Morgan was a great recruiter, I will give him that, but he couldn't coach to save his life. We underachieved a LOT in his last season. The jury is out on McDermott, but he gets his 5 years to turn it all around.

I like Pollard and like his tenacity . . McCarney went flatter than a pancake . . and our most recent Auburn hire was a fraud. Why don't you blame them??

I agree...that Pollard has ruined Iowa State! We don't have any improvements to our facilities both football and basketball. Our "number 1" candidate in our coaching search "turned us down" (according to the always reliable Marty Tirrell because he KNOWS who JP's first choice was). Next thing you know Pollard will be heading over to Iowa City to hire Ken O'Keefe as our new head coach!

Oh, and did I mention that Pollard is also the one responsible for the highest (2007) and second highest (2008) number of seasons tickets sold in football? If our policy is soooo messed up, why are people buying more season tickets than ever MontyBurns?

Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?

GIVE IT UP. Pollard has done something ISU athletics have never seen... he took a chance. Guess what, he struck out. But playing it safe now will not do anything but send us back to the BVD era. I stand 100% behind Pollard.

"I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?

It seems to me that monty and pride are in a very extreme minority. But then I like to see the glass as half full, not broken and trashed. This whole situation is a positive in my eyes. We have, and hopefully will keep, better athletes. They also may be inspired to prove something, AS A TEAM. That says a lot for a group of young men going into the off-season learning a new system and preparing for another year. And MOST new coaches (departed company excluded) are enthusiastic and hard-working. Exactly what we need to match the majority of the fanbase and our AD. Banding together is what we need , not in-fighting. Want to be fair-weather? There's another school in-state that is notorious for that.

HOW DID JP KNOW CHIZIK WAS GOING TO LIE HIS ******* *** OFF. He hired the best coach out there. A coach that many thought was a too good of hire for ISU out of our league (some still dont understand why he came to Ames).
