HOW DOES AN ORGANIZED COACH MANAGE HIS TIME?

Several people have mentioned coaches that donít seem to leave the office; why is this?

Wayne Boltís comment of a few weeks ago really bothered me. He stated he was working every night till midnight and he got back up at 4 AM to work again. OK, he works hard but what is an organized coach doing (for example) on a Thursday night at 11 PM? He certainly isnít teaching football players. I would think the game plan would have been set by Tuesday in order to have time to teach it. What is a typical coach doing that late at night?

    Rudy.

Sounds a bit like someone who was in over his head. Maybe missing a little confidence and decisiveness.

Not ragging on the guy, it's an incredibly tough position to be in.

Re: HOW DOES AN ORGANIZED COACH MANAGE HIS TIME?

Film, Film, Film. If you are done with the scout for this week you are on to next week. Or you are watching film on a recruit. Or you are at the office on the phone with a recruit. When it's 11 here, it's 9 in California.

Coaches use their time wisely. They aren't in the office until midnight because they don't want to see their families.

A lot of coaches virtually live at the office...especially during the season. They watch a lot of tape trying to get any advantage they can on their opponent. I would say that it is typical for coaches at major colleges to work these type of crazy hours...I know for certain Nick Saban and his staff do.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

    Ha ha.....

I've heard that most coaches work ridiculous hours, so I wouldn't read much into it. I have no idea what they do, but evidently it's necessary.

Re: HOW DOES AN ORGANIZED COACH MANAGE HIS TIME?

This is obviously false. I have been a head coach at multiple D1 programs in a variety of sports like football, basketball and even baseball. I know for a fact that recruiting takes only about 15 minutes per week in the most recent version of college football. Prepping for the games takes a minimal amount of time as well, most of the time I skip practice and just play the games. Even on the highest difficulty level I still have had a lot of success. Wayne Bolt must be lying.

have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.

So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough?

LOL. Bolt must not have played NCAA Football before he took the job. That would've taught him some time management.
