So, what do all of the Asst. coaches do now?

they are still under contract to ISU, so do they keep recruiting? The strength coach would still have things to do, but the other guys? If ISU is still paying them, then they should be doing something, even if it is cleaning Hilton after games.

Re: So, what do all of the Asst. coaches do now?

How many/any of the assistants will stay?

I think Erik Link is the only one left from the Danny Mac era, correct? As the Dir of Ops I can see him staying, as much of what he does in not based on sharing a "philosophy" with the new head coach.

What did they say to Chizik at the meeting today?

Aren't their contract tied to the head coaches somehow.

They will probly follow Chizik to Auburn, isnt that what usually happens.

I thought their contracts were year to year. So when do they end?

That's the life of an assistant, if they think they're likely to stick around in one town for any length of time they picked the wrong profession, I'm sure they all understand that.

I believe any new head coach would have the opportunity to retain those that he wishes, or he can fire all of them, but they'll continue what they're doing for now.

Re: So, what do all of the Asst. coaches do now?

Coordinators generally get 2 year deals I think, the rest are year to year. That may be why we kept Mcfarland and Bolt on staff if they picked up another year at the end of last season similar to TCTQ getting a recruiting extension.

So they are recruiting? Wow, come to Iowa State, we won two games last year and our head coach bailed on us, not sure I will be here when you get here, but we have a nice practice field somewhere...

Probably 1 Jan 09. Maybe the two demotions bought them another year with us if they were reassigned. That would have been clever of Gene. One more parting present.

What gets me is two of these guys are supposed to be his long time buddies, and it sounds like they were as blind sided by this as everyone else.
