    Tuesday Snow Storm

I know it's still 48 hours away, but does anybody have any snow total predictions for the DSM area for Tuesday? I looked on KCCI and WXUnderground and both say heavy snow potential but don't give amounts.

How can there be a big snow storm on the way - we don't have a home MBB game that night...

    Re: Tuesday Snow Storm

The forecast model I've worked up says there will not be any snow, but a huge tornado that will actually lift Hilton Coliseum up off its foundation and throw it onto Jack Trice Stadium, destroying both buildings. That's really all that's left to happen to us.

    Re: Tuesday Snow Storm

3-6" or so depending on storm track for Tuesday.... also another potentially significant storm on Thursday with freezing rain/sleet and more snow possible.

Ed on WHO said between 4-8 were possible for Des Moines. Then again, they were proclaiming doom for the last big storm as well. Speaking of WHO, would any of the weather experts here know why the temp. on their little clock thingie is always different than what they say the actual temp in Des Moines is? It's always 2 or 3 degrees less.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Usually one is the studio temp and the other is the temp at the airport.

    Re: Tuesday Snow Storm

This snow will be very different than the one that just fell where the temperatures close to freezing threw off the forecasts. Although qpf(quantative precipitation forecast) calls for only .25-.5 inches of what would be rain, with the temperatures forecast to be in place the snow ratios should be in the 1-15 or 20 range. Des Moines I would say is in decent shape for a 5-6 inch snowfall if things hold. It should be a light fluffy snow.
