Promote Robert McFarland to head coach for a year?

I think we are all in unanimous agreement that speed is of the essence here to keep players from leaving. So, I am just throwing this out as an idea, and am totally open to this being a completely stupid idea. Basically, we promote Robert McFarland to head coach, with the understanding that it would be temporary until a permanent head coach could be found sometime next season. This gives us almost a year to find a coach, instead of weeks. It would also allow us to keep most of the existing staff, if he chooses to do so.

This is the way it is often done in the rare circumstances when a head coach is lost to a sudden death, for instance.

    Ugh.

It would be completely foolish and very bad on all fronts to promote a guy to HC that supposedly was not fit for the OC position. Would be worse than a former MBB coach getting handed his job.

Is this a package deal with Beasley?

No offense, but that would be horrible.

While it won't happen, it is a better idea than bringing Danny Mac back (yes...serious)

    Terrible, terrible idea.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

If we had a little more competence on the staff, maybe. But let's face it, the staff isn't Big 12 caliber.

Promote GMAC TO FBALL HEAD COACH to solve two problems at the same time.

No, that would be too easy.

Use some of the 750k for the new coach to entice the move.

You would have to be totally high on crack to hire him.

Christy Johnson would do a better job than him.

Mr. Cyclone42, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Re: Promote Robert McFarland to head coach for a year?

So let me get this straight, demote him from OC to a position coach, and now you want to promote him to head coach in the span of two weeks. Sounds logical to me.
