Todd Graham Info. from a Tulsa-ite

Now that Chizik is history and Alabama is now my second favorite team, I thought I would add some local insight on Todd Graham.

IMO, Todd Graham would be a great hire for ISU. He has kept Tulsa at a high level after taking over a prgram that Steve Kragthorpe turned around. While we would most likely have a hard time keeping him, the guy and his staff could provide what ISU needs - offense. Graham and Gus Malzahn's offenses have been explosive and are fun to watch. Getting Malzahn as a package deal would be a real coup. Malzahn's offenses move the ball - nothing like what I have seen in the few ISU games I have managed to catch during Chizik.

Keep in mind - Tulsa is a school with only 5,000 or so in enrollment and gets the leftovers here in Oklahoma after OU and OSU, so what he has accomplished with second or third tier talent is pretty impressive. Trust me, Tulsa's teams from the past few years would have won some games in the North. Not Missouri or Nebraska material, but they would surely have beaten ISU, CU and K-State this year.

While I agree with another poster that Graham really played Rice to come to Tulsa, I think he should be at the top of the short list.

I'd be happy with a Todd Graham hire. Seems he has success where he goes, and he has head coaching experience.

Re: Todd Graham Info. from a Tulsa-ite

i would love to hire Todd Graham. And yes he has good offenses but what we really need right now is a defense. even a decent defense. our defense was so awful last year and that is where we need help. so if Tulsa had a good D then i think we take him right away

Re: Todd Graham Info. from a Tulsa-ite

    Hey Cymonson -

Just a question since I don't get to watch ISU much.... is the defense bad or does the offense have no time of possession and leave them tired and in bad situations/field position?

Just curious - I only saw the Nebraska game live this year and I watched the Missouri game on tv. The Nebraska game, to me, seemed like a game where the offense just always left the defense in bad spots. Like I said, I really have no idea since I have seen very few games.

    Illinoiscyclone -

Thanks for the correction - I knew I was rounding up with 5,000 - I thought it was actually 4,000. Wow - only 3K.

Re: Todd Graham Info. from a Tulsa-ite

well what i would say is our offense did at key pts in a game. (like when the other team scores to tie the game) our offense would go 3 and out so our defense wasnt fresh when we needed them most. but for the most part, our defensive play was awful. Our safeties are very slow. Brandon Hunley got burned by the other teams TIGHT END several times. We have no pressure up front which causes for bad secondary play. We were terrible against the pass and decent against the rush. We need SPEED

all though some of it couldve been playcalling but lots of times it was blown coverages
