    Chizik = Alford

    While I'm not an Iowa fan, I always thought they deserved a little better then they got with Coach Alford.

    That's exactly the way I feel right now about Coach Chizik. Lot of attitude, not much for results, and a lot of distance between the fans and the coach.

    Good riddens. At least it happened for us only two years into the marriage and not the goofy long time little bro had with Coach Alford.

    It is also like Alford as another school took the coach off our hands without us having to deal with it. We get buyout money and maybe a great new coach.

    Alford took a lower paying job in a lesser conference in order to get out of town one step ahead of being fired. Chizik took a higher paying job at a bigger program in an equal conference when he was at least 4 years away from being fired. Big difference.

    Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

    My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

    Big difference for Chizik, not for us.
